Not AAC level talent this year or last but I wouldn't say we didn't have the talent the first year in the AAC. That was simply a collapse.
Cheers!

I think Ruff was just bailed out by Carden (and I believe LR was still here that year but I may be wrong) that year many times until he poor coaching and time management skills screwed the pooch.

I know Ruff is a great guy and an Alumni, but outside of personality and having gone here he didn't have much recruiting tools at his disposal. Mo has coached in the NFL (and I believe in the super bowl but don't have time to fact check that) and under Cutcliff who is a top 10-15 active college coach. He's also played, coached, and recruited in the ACC. I truely believe all of that will help us bring in the talent ECU should be bringing in.

Hell look at Basketball. We are only now seeing the gains of what being in the AAC can do and football had a head start given it's had more history. We should be stacked with talent year 3 in this conference and yet we aren't and that's all on Ruff and Mo is unfairly getting thrown under the bus by most of the fanbase. Give him time and he'll build us right and with depth (another thing Ruff didn't have outside of 40 WRs...)

Nelson and Summers if hard pressed. This is why I'm glad Mo recruited in Minshew. Last season showed us what having no depth looked like.

Technically, this IS Ruff''s talent. Or, lack thereof!

Have you watched the same games everyone else has? We have only one receiver we can trust (we usually have 2-4 including TEs), and our starting RB was a QB that we recruited as a WR that was forced to return to QB and is now a RB and wildcat QB. No named scrubs on the O Line and defense. And to top it all off no talent on ST.

This is quite literally the worst team at ECU in a long time and they are all players Ruff brought him while he was destroying the NFL pipeline Logan and Holtz spent a long time building. I know Mo had some coach speak during the offseason about how we "had more talent than he thought," but I think he knew just how ****** we were and how big of a rebuilding process this was.

And rest assured, if he had the choice he wouldn't have played SoCar and VaTech this season. He would've preferred App State, ODU, and/or Charlotte. That schedule with this rebuilding project gets us a bowl game. Not to mention we go way too hard in OOC anyway and we are almost always out of the Access bowl discussion by week 4.

Honestly he's better than everyone we be ran out there after him minus maybe pre concussion Nelson. I think Minshew is a bit of a dip compared to Carden but better than post concussion Nelson.

RE: The ESPNews Bowl: SMU @ ECU (Game Thread)
Name me a better QB McNeill had. Carden was not better than Nelson at the beginning of the season. You can speculate about many reasons of why he's degressed.

Anderson and the Scotts are as good as Cooper and Breon

The WR corps is more or less the same McNeill had his whole time minus Hardy and Bryce Williams. Petersen doesn't use Baggett anyway so Williams isn't really an advantage

O-Line isn't any worse talent wise. Scheme is another story

D-Line is probably the worst since 2012

LBs are better than all years except 2015 and maybe his first

DBs are far better than any McNeill had

Name me one person on the o line or d that could be an NFL player. Also Dominque Davis.

He sat behind some friends of ours and was calling every offensive play before it happened. Glad we're keeping people guessing.

Everyone in the stadium know's the ball is going to Zay. It doesn't take a football Nostradamus to see that.

Yup and yet this is the "most talented team ever!" What a joke, this is us bottoming out from Ruff's poor recruiting and team management.

There is a clear gap in this list of ECU Draftees. Ruff had only two players drafted in his time here. Dwayne, who was recruited by Skip, and Justin Hardy. So Ruff recruited only one damn player worthy of being drafted in his 6 years here.
