If we accomplish nothing else, ridding ourselves of all the different names and becoming known as just UNCW would be great.

Not sure why the hell they still list Gonzaga as a mid major. Maybe the mid major polls just want to hang on to a top program for prestige. There is nothing mid major about Gonzaga basketball other than the conference they are stuck in. It is a big time program.

The WCC includes Gonzaga, St. Mary's, and BYU. It is a multi-bid conference. It should not be included in a mid-major poll. Its members spend as much on average as the A10 schools.

Start with the Power 5, add the Big East, the American, the A10, the WCC, and the MVC or the Mountain West. Those 10 are the high majors. Take the next ten conferences, starting with the loser of the MVC or Mountain West, then the CAA, plus 8 more, and those are the Mid-Majors. From 21-oblivion should be the Low-Majors, but no one calls them that.

The Mountain West lost its best 2 schools when Utah and BYU left. That BYU left the Mountain West to join the WCC confirms the WCC is not a Mid-Major conference.

It is what it is. There are good teams here. The Hawks certainly have deserved this ranking and have to fight for#1 in this setting. Nobody cares about preseason. You have to go out and play. Let's hope that the guys can fight and get it done. If your at the top of this poll at the end, you're good and have consideration. The Hawks have to come out fighting to get more respect. You have to set your goals at the top to obtain them.
