Thanks.

I don't know one person who cares more about a reported rate than their own situation... and we all know what the 'situation' generally is w/r/t employment

Well, let's see if this is voodoo economics. 2 part time jobs equal 1 full time job. Heck, that's right. For every 2 part time jobs it's like we're creating two jobs instead of one. BRILLIANT!

And then those people get to go on Obamacare instead of going through their employer! What a Utopia!

This is the U6 rate, which doesn't include the underemployed.

RE: Avg. Unemployment since 2009 Under Obama
again... I stay away from the U3's (which is what JD posted), even though the govt considers those the official numbers.

The U6 numbers are the key ones to me... have they gone down ? Yes, but again, is that because people are getting employed, are they working multiple jobs? (I don't think that would matter would it) or have people quit looking because they can't find anything?

The U-6's are still in double digits. Which means we're right back about where we started in Obama's first term of office. (oops.. take that back, we are where we were halfway through 2008, then the nasty climb)

Even the U-3's are right back about where we started before the end of GWB's term (again, 2007 we were in the 4's, and then it started the skyrocket in December 2008)

(a.) underemployment. these are McJobs
(b.) disability is the new unemployment.
(c.) the old school numbers simply fail to properly describe the new economy,

which means that

(d.) this is pure propaganda

and

(e.) you really need to get with the times.

Jobs are jobs whether they be part time or otherwise. Whatever helps pays the bills is good.

I agree but we can do better, generally speaking.

When jobs came back under Reagan, they were lampooned as "McJobs". Under Obama? It's significantly worse under Reagan's job gains yet everyone brags about how great the economy is. If you click the link in my earlier post, you'll see how the labor participation rate has fell from a decade ago. That more than wipes out the "job gains" under the Idiot in Chief.

Victimized? Go out and mow some lawns, go door to door asking for work. Give me a freakin break.

These people need to get off their ass and do something.

4.9% unemployment implies that the're too busy working to get a job.

Which is it?

I wont argue with the numbers because I know that all of them are BS and have been forever. I think the lowering is simply due to hard working people starting businesses and ongoing business entities not allowing the poor policies of the government to hinder them. The marketplace always finds a way to move forward, innovate and profit regardless of the obstacles. That is American capitalism.
