The reality of being a MAC football fan...
Watching and reading these threads. Living through so many years as a WMU fan... watching what has been going on over the last 15-20 years... it becomes obvious that being a MAC football fan requires one to just enjoy the good when it happens...

Can we choose to agree that when PJ was hired... nearly nobody here had any thoughts that what is currently happening was a possibility... He was a young fast talking nobody with great aspirations. He came in spouting grandiose ideas and throwing the culture of WMU football, up until he was hired, under the bus. People were divisive on their beliefs in what he was saying... and even more so on his seemingly blind view of everything WMU football that existed before he was brought on board... Tough place from which to start...

But then he did his thing... row'd his boat... and got kids to buy into his philosophy... All the while changing nearly every best this program had to offer in a positive manner...

With all of this seemingly unprecedented success comes the vultures of the P5 waiting with pocket books and greater opportunities to lure away our diamond in the rough. Leaving us again looking for that next great find... A frustrating existence as a fan of a team that has just finally found its space amongst the big boys... rated in the AP above such perennial powers as the Notre Dame's and Michigan State's of the landscape... Its a small window... but one we have to really just sit back and enjoy.

PJ is on the move... and thats really what we had to understand when KB took that flier on a relative unknown. Our best case scenario is literally playing out before our eyes. He's spent just four years here and has us in the top 20 in the nation. Pretty good flier by KB in hind-sight... If he brings us a MAC championship this year... well then all of the boxes have been checked. How he leaves the program is the curiosity.

Toledo, BGSU, CMU, NIU and others over the years in the MAC have been just incubators for some great coaches who have moved on to other programs. The Cradle of coaches if you will... Its a tough place to be as a fan... finally getting some success, only to have to re-adjust... move forward... re-build the leadership. Its possible and has been proven recently by the likes of Toledo, CMU and NIU... but its something as a fan you just have to accept. Enjoy it while you have it... take EVERY opportunity to see a game... be at a game... wear your gear and embrace it all...

GO BRONCOS... lets bring back the MAC hardware this year... and worry about the rest later...

No time won't tell...You wanted the ending to be him burning out in flames here over off the field BS and losing on the field...Too late buddy...He has won here and will continue to until he goes and signs a contract at a power 5 school in six weeks for $15-20 million guaranteed. No matter what happens after that, he has won and trolls like you can't say a damn thing about it. Enjoy the misery of WMU and PJ getting more pub then anyone could ever dream of. Enjoy the nightmares of him rowing the boat on national tv in front of millions of people. Sweet dreams 07-coffee3

Wow Mr 9 posts, you sure seem plugged in for a newbie. 03-phew

I've said all along I want him to win big and leave. Win win. Guess what? That, and I can say a "damn thing about it". I think he's a weasel. My mind isn't changing.

That and time will tell..

This is a WMU football message board...and you are actively rooting AGAINST our team because..why? I have no idea...please enlighten me as to what our charismatic, personable, talented coach, who has brought more glory to our program in the last 3 years than in the previous 30 years I've followed it COMBINED, personally did to you to make you long for the day he leaves Kalamazoo. I'm all ears.

That PJ stays forever and ever? :) Or he takes a job near where you're at, and you guys become roommates! Like the Odd Couple... that would make a great reality show!

Quote:Can we choose to agree that when PJ was hired... nearly nobody here had any thoughts that what is currently happening was a possibility

I didn't think going 1-11, including a loss to a D1AA team was a possibility. Even with injuries considered, he still inherited some talent. But no, I couldn't see us being 8-0 right now, even in August. However, with Illinois being so bad with Lovie's 1st year, and NW losing to a (granted, hungry and good) D1AA team by suffering to score even a point, and NIU falling down the crapper, I would have seen 8-0 a possibility, but I still wouldn't have bet on it (especially with Braverman gone).

Yeah, but to be fair, we'd be above ND & MSU this year if we were in a upper-Cubit year. But Yes, ranked -- that's another story. It's great. It does suck that barring a couple losses and missing out on the MACC appearance, there is a great chance of him leaving at the end of the year. Nebraska's prev coach, LSU's prev coach, Houston's current coach looking to move up, and other good prospects may make the chances of PJ staying better if we get dinged a bit, and PJ wanting to stay in the midwest, while going to another G5 that's an option for almost all MAC coaches, wouldn't be worth it for him in his position.

What we don't have -- and would be hard to get -- would to have a coaching legacy established where one passes the torch to OC/DC, etc. Kind of like how NIU got things established. Except, we'd have to avoid hiring a Rod Carey. :)

Where has it been said by me that I actively root AGAINST out team? You're reading too much into this message board, like a lot of other's have done before you.

Must be tough to get by in your two dimensional world.

There may be a faster way, but just go to your profile and look to the menu on the far left of the screen. Scroll down until you the the "Buddy/Ingore" list. Click and it is self-explanatory.

I'm somewhat of a Luddite, so if someone knows a better way, please do not hesitate to point it out.

I hope if/when he gets hired away he rows the boat at his new school on TV in front of millions of people. WMU owns the trademark, we'd be raking in the dough! 02-13-banana02-13-banana
