Maybe the ConFLict trophy could actually be a symbol of shame that the losing team has to keep and display when they lose. How much fun would that be?

This is a great idea.

What if ucf wins (likely scenario). Do they take it or leave it?

Likely scenario? The Civil ConFLiCT is knotted up at 2-2!

Arrogance like that will definitely cause UConn fans to amp up their hate of UCF!

I actually feel kind of bad for Diaco. He reminds me of a kid who's having a birthday party and nobody shows up.

Even though this sounds hilarious, the only way this works is if the visiting team wins. Methinks the ConFLict trophy is going to be sitting in UConn's trophy case for quite some time.

Not necessarily. If home team wins, they can just overnight it.

#1 UCF vs USF = rivalry
#2 UCF vs ECU = grudge match, enjoy beating them... not a real rivalry
#3 UCF vs any Florida school
That's pretty much it for me

UCF vs UConn means nothing. It was funny with Diaco but now it's over

It was a gimmick and it motivated the UConn players.... that's it

I would put UCF vs Marshall or Tulsa above UConn

That's just sad. You should take the trophy if marshall is your rival.

Lmao

ECU is the only team that they've played more than Marshall, and they have a winning record against Marshall. I'd take that rivalry to the bank, despite them playing a whole lot less now.

Marshall the team we aren't playing in any sport = rival.

No

That's what some of you don't get. Just because you play someone a lot doesn't make it a rivalry.

A "rival" is usually an obstacle on the way to something, like a divisional foe or a regional foe (fighting over recruiting grounds). Marshall is just the past. Not a rival.

The non-conference rivalries, while fun, don't mean as much. Sure, VT and NC State are ECU's rivals, but wins and losses between us don't really mean much. Same as how South Carolina-Clemson or Texas-Texas A&M aren't as important as Ohio State-Michigan, Alabama-Auburn, USC-UCLA, etc.

Nothing needs to be done. If we play each other long enough, those rivalries will create themselves.

In the meantime, our new rival is West Virginia. We play them next year, and then again in 2020 if it doesn't get cancelled. Everyone get hyped up! I'll start making T-shirts.

RE: Is the ConFLict now a real rivalry?
The fact that so many people are still talking about this has only proven Diaco was right on this.

And while the Civil ConFLiCT was Diaco's Frankenstein's monster...

It was UCF that woke him up. The Knights made this a story.

Hopefully this will be addressed in an intelligent manner. All we've seen so far is a bunch of brainless chest thumping.

The game is going to be played regardless. Just pass the trophy and keep the name because that's why people care enough to talk about it. Without the backstory, its a game that doesn't really matter.
