Big Ed heading to the frozen tundra to be the offensive line coach. Sounds like UE is turning the offensive keys over to Kevin Wilson. Urban may have overtaken Brian Kelly for completely blowing up his coaching staff, some intentional some not. It will be interesting to see what come out of all of it. I also saw that they inked a top juco db today. I wonder what Amir R. from Colerain is thinking as i think that's like 6 db's in osu's class now.

Yeah for those interested, I'd suggest following the new S&C Coach Brady Collins. He is a big tweeter. These pics are great! The players are posting as well and it looks like they loved it too. @BCstrength

I totally am not surprised they went out on a mud run today. Collins worked underneath Mickey Marotti, who was having guys flipping tires and all that stuff way before it was the norm.

Edit: Also liked this nugget from Coach Collins twitter feed

I know the old staff brought in a clinic of high school coaches the last couple of years. The coaches I talked to were never too impressed with CTT and some of the staff. Might be a good time to make a big push to get these high school coaches back in and make a new impression.

Still waiting on running backs, quarterbacks, tight ends, and a cornerbacks coach I believe. We seemed to be on a hot streak for a few days and now we've slowed down.

Not to imply Fickell is slacking, he's crushing it right now, plus it's the mad dash to finish recruiting.

http://coachingsearch.com/article?a=Repo...head-coach

Yeah... I think this is a good move as well.

Edsall was an idiot for taking the Maryland gig. He had a good thing going at UConn and Maryland was both a bad fit and a bad situation (coming off Friedgen). He (Edsall) could have stayed another season at UConn and waited for a better opening, but he didn't.

It'll take a little bit for Edsall to get things rebuilt at UConn. He likes big O-lines and power runners. He also had a couple of good QB's in his UConn days including Orlovsky. It'll take some time to get those things recruited and installed. Diaco was a gimmick guy...not sure what he's leaving behind, but probably not a lot in the cupboard.

It's a good hire but they're going to have to be patient.

From what I've heard, Edsall isn't a game changer but rock solid and a class act. I think the writing was on the wall concerning an impending Big East implosion so heading to Maryland at that time was probably the right decision for him personally.

Looks like we'll be seeing another familiar face at UConn (assuming you knew what he looked like at all):

Quote:J.B. Grimes, who coached Auburn's offensive line from 2013-15, will coach the same position for the Huskies, a source told AL.com. Terms of Grimes' deal were not immediately available and an official announcement is expected on Monday.

Grimes spent the last season at Cincinnati, where he earned $385,000 coaching under former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville along with his son, Nick Grimes, who was the tight ends and H-back coach for the Bearcats. Cincinnati tied for 37th in tackles for loss allowed this past season.

Good. Perhaps UCONN's OL will be as disciplined and as well coached as ours was last year.

To my knowledge he's the only one of that cruddy staff to have found a job.

Reading the UConn boards, they are ecstatic over the Grimes hire. In fact, when talking about their new staff it sounds a lot like what you'd read on our boards...

I put this in the UC coaches thread but I guess it's a better fit here:

At Baldwin Wallace (D-III - OH), sources tell @FootballScoop that LaSalle HS (OH) HC Jim Hilvert will be the new HC http://footballscoop.com/the-scoop/

sounds like a few people here knew what they were talking about re: Hilvert & LaSalle.

Seems like an odd move considering he just left D3, but congrats to him all the same.

Tennessee: Butch Jones is likely to promote Larry Scott from tight ends to offensive coordinator per multiple sources; however the announcement could be held until Butch secures the quarterbacks coach he is planning to hire. We understand additional moves within the staff are still being considered.

footballscoop.com

sounds like an odd move so I gotta guess it wasn't Butchie's first choice. Maybe the heat on his seat kept other candidates away...
