Would you be happy with a rivalary with UConn in football? Be honest.
That question should be asked about Memphis as well. Memphis has had three good recent seasons and their entire fan base conveniently omits the fact that their football program was a dumpster fire for the previous 30 years before that.

Sure. UConn has a good brand and they're invested in being successful. The North vs South Eastern division pairing also has natural conflict built in because of the geographic differences (Climate being a big one). When you have snow birds that make their Winter home in Florida, there is some familiarity between the two sides.

Well that's totally false. People turn the Larry Porter years into 30 years worth of football

Also seems like we are going to stay good for a good bit. #1 class in the AAC by 247 and Rivals.

Congrats using that one stretch of bad football thanks to Tommy West and Larry Porter. The difference this time is that our admin care about football and you are seeing what Memphis can become when that happens
When will UConn start caring. If you did maybe you would be in the ACC or Big 10 by now

FACT: Memphis didn't even make the Big 12's short list of expansion candidates. UConn did. If the future of Memphis football is so bright, why didn't the Big 12 even take a whiff of them? Could it be the bad academics?
So please spare us the fantasy that Memphis football is some kind of national juggernaut compared to UConn football.

McMurphy already said he couldn't get Memphis to talk. He went through his sources and got some yes and no replies. He decided we were out. His explanation doesn't even make sense lol.
Also Memphis has separated itself from UConn in football. We actually want to be good in this sport. Round ball can only take you so far

Sure...as this is a new conf with very few rivals...and who doesn't like rivalry games?
Heck, the END of this game and over the past few days...from newspaper reports to twitter to ESPN...has gotten more publicity than all 3 games played combined by these 2 schools.
Hope this "rivalry" only grows more next year.
PS. I like it more when the "trophy" is actually not a "trophy" but instead its an object (i.e. Oak Barrel, Ax, Pig, Giant Bell, Golden Egg, Jug, etc...

I think it would be cool to have a north v south football rivalry as each team gets to play in rather different weather conditions than they are accustomed to. Maybe even have UCONN/UCF be either the first conference game of the season when UCF hosts, and the last when UCONN hosts, making it kind of like a B1G vs SEC argument. UCONN dropped the ball by surprising our football team with it last year and not having the decency to even count the first game in the series, a UCF win. Make a better trophy (or as KnightLight said, an object), count all the games, and come back to us.
