In what capacity?

Dude is a 6-5 (on a great day) PF/C with no hops.

I do think he'll play admirably in spot minutes.

Anyone expecting some major jump in production at the DI level is gonna be disappointed though.

My opinion obviously and based mostly on envisioning who he will have to defend and score against. Tough sledding.

Alex and Jonathan are really solid. What I've seen of Castro leads me to believe this team has the potential to be much better than we've seen recently. Team basketball.

Agree, it is more of a Wichita/Dayton/Butler roster overall.

Aside from Dedric, who is the talent outlier for sure.

Miller, Marshall would never take the floor with a roster this thin, unbalanced and with this lack of overall talent when starting with 3 Top 60 players.

Miller had a 6-6 PF and 6-6 C last year and both were backups - the starters got injured preseason.

Marshall had a 6-8 C that grad transferred from Cleveland State as his best post player, meaning he had no better post player before the grad transfer market opened.

While I understand the point you were trying to make, it's not exactly spot on - Dayton and Wichita are rosters full of castoffs and 2/3 stars and JCs/grads, etc.

Not going to do the research-know Dayton has signed a steady stream of top 100 players past few years-someone will come back with a cherry picked recruiting service and say that is not so.

Okay, so it's more like a Wichita roster then.

Whatever, the main point was that it's an wide assortment of player types.

Totally agree. Which may not be a bad thing. I kinda like skilled basketball players more than big athletes who are raw. If put in the right system and coaches up they can be very competitive.

Didn't kytrel play at Harding?

Yep, at Harding - he had good #s first year at Motlow, regressed sharply his second year, so maybe injured or something.

I like having Memphis area kids that weren't overly hyped and surrounded by posses. They usually are solid and tough minded. And most have a love for the Tigers to some degree.

There is another aspect to this point. My three kids attended Fayette Academy. For those of you that don't know, FA is in Somerville, just one county over from Memphis. BIG UT and Ole Miss country. Unless I miss my guess, and I don't think I am, this will be the FIRST D-1a athlete to play for a major school. There are posters of other FA grads that have played for Colleges Like UCA and the like.

What this University needs more than anything is to grow the fan base, and convert whoever is willing to be converted from being SEC fans. What better way than for every student walking into the FA gym to see Alex Moffat in his Tiger uni in a big fat poster in the foyer? If he can get any decent playing time, I believe it will pay dividends in the future in enrollment and future alumni. There are already, I believe, a record number of FA graduates headed to UofM next year, my youngest being one of them.

Maybe this could be a strategy for many schools between Memphis and Jackson?

Actually agree with this wholeheartedly - works for Memphis football to a degree to work two angles - walk-ons and recruiting counties in West TN.

If you can get an underrated kid to walk-on at Memphis from these areas, only a benefit and maybe even a surprise here or there.

Great point. And spot on. As a matter of fact the school has already started advertising Alex's earning a spot.

Btw , his brother Ethan and Brennan could play d1 IMHO. They've had many very talented girls teams/players.

Not sure what cherry-picking 24/7 provides, but in the last 4 seasons, Dayton's classes have ranked 69, 91, 114, and 60.

In that time, they've signed 1 4 star player and a bunch of 2/3 star players.
