Toledo or CMU this Saturday?
Should we support Toledo or CMU this Saturday when they face each other?

I want Toledo.

A Rocket win would pretty much eliminate CMU from MAC West title contention, which is always a good thing. A CMU win would be somewhat helpful to WMU by giving the Broncos a one game advantage over UT (provided the Broncos beat EMU Saturday), but it would not change the fact that UT must be beaten again for WMU to advance to the MAC Championship Game.

Should WMU lose to EMU - which remains in title contention with only one MAC loss - and CMU beat UT, then things will really get complicated and silly.

Wins by WMU and UT likely make it a Bronco/Rocket show down for the MAC Championship Game, provided neither lose twice in the MAC before their game on November 25.

I just wanna see CMU's and EMU's title hopes snuffed this week. 04-rock

Toledo for sure. They should win by at least 10.

Kinda silly.

I support all MAC teams in non-conference games because it helps WMU (a rising tide lifts all boats). 04-rock

If a CMU win somehow benefits WMU, then Fire-Up Chips/Go Broncos! 04-cheers

If there is no benefit to WMU...screw 'em. 05-mafia

CMU winning does nothing for us...if we lost to Toledo then CMU would be MAC champs

Who wins if WMU has a loss to UT, UT has a loss to WMU, and CMU has a loss to WMU?

No idea.

Toss EMU in there if the Hurons beat WMU, CMU and win the remainder of their MAC games (unlikely, but possible), but have a loss to UT.

That's why I want WMU and Toledo victories Saturday.

On the flip side, I can see the benefit of UT getting a loss on Saturday, then dropping another before our game in Kalamazoo. Wouldn't mind WMU having the Division sewn-up before November 25, although that is extremely wishful thinking.

Saw Toledo vs. BYU on TV earlier.

Rockets' offense was VERY impressive.

Their defense on the other hand gave up points like it was their job.

I don't think Central's offense can keep up with Rockets in Glass Bowl.

Assuming you meant UT has a loss to CMU, because under what you just said, WMU and UT would have beaten each other?

In a 3 way tie where each team has the same record and 1-1 among the 3 teams, the tiebreaker is crossover opponents. So that means you take the 3 MAC East opponents of CMU/WMU/UT and compared their MAC record. So if hypothetically:

CMU: OU/Miami/Kent = 10-14
UT: BG/OU/Akron = 12-12
WMU: Akron/Kent/UB = 8-16

The winner would be UT because their MAC East teams had the best MAC record.

MSU fans on RCMB were steaming mad at their coaching staff after their loss to BYU, wondering why they didn't mimic Toledo's game plan (that is, sling it around a lot more at BYU's weak pass defenders, per them).

They're so hopelessly devoted to that pro style offense of theirs that has done nothing. NW runs pretty much what WMU does on offense and slaughtered them with it.

Yes that's what I meant.

Damn. That's what I was afraid of.

We just need to win out..

I guess if we lose, we get another year of Fleck, eh?

Wouldn't that suck if Fleck gets pulled into the coaching frenzy and we lose to UT, UT goes to the Championship game, and we lose Fleck before he wins us a MAC Championsjip?

If that happens, he was not giving 100% to this team, as he says he is. If he practices what he's preaching, it won't be an issue.

That may be a possibility. Or wouldn't it be cooler if Fleck does a press conference saying he withdrawls his acceptance at [Purdue] because he did not win a MAC Championship with us, and vows to never leave until that is accomplished? :)

RE: Toledo or CMU this Saturday?
Yeah, it'd take a few stumbles down the stretch to sour Fleck's brand.

Hypothetically speaking, 11-1 with a loss to an 11-1 Toledo team would still considered a fantastic season.
