1) communter school is defined by percentage of commuters ..houston has identical housing stats to UT..the only school in texas with a drastically better campus housing percentage is TTech and that is becuase the make it mandetorry to live on campus 1 year
--your counter of "i know commuters" is a stupid one, everyone knows commuters in every college.. the national average for on-campus students for every college is only about 19%..so about 81 percent of all college students dont live on campus and commute
-- my last tailgate non of the people were UH alum, they went to UT, ttech, UNT or A&M. they all just came to game from the buzz or knowing someone coming. but im not stupid enough to use my personal isolated experience to say UT and A&M alums actually all root for houston..

2) you just stated why this is in houstons favor... "Hardly anyone in Houston knows or even cares about UT-Houston going up" most non-UH person dont know about this. the UT people dont care, they arent pushing legislators nor does it have any public support...but in UH circles fear mongering has grown about how this might "hurt your UH degree". they are making pushes to stop this..atleast 20 politician have publicly spoken against it, the governor has sided with us, so has the head of texas board of education
zero politician have come in support of UT-Houston, most UT people dont even know its happening

this isnt the power of UH vs The power of UT...Its the power of UH (with heavy political clout) vs a few optimistic board members at UT

but honestly i never realized you were such a hater
I don't find billybobby to be a "hater" of anything here. He's an old school smash face football fan. I don't know him personally but I get the vibe that he's currently a Guardsman, Reservist or active duty soldier. He's the living definition of a great college football fan in my opinion.

none of that doesnt mean you arent a hater...
he can love ecu and be great solider but that doesnt mean he isnt a hater...
my solidier friends who are also UH fans, all hate UT & A&M.. i honestly cant say anything nice about them lol..ill say manziel was a great player in college. they will say he was a druggie, i say anything positive about them a negatie response comes out

but i honestly cant tell how you can read that and not think he is a hater.. he makes a post that we are in denial, have no power, we are commuter school and that no one in houston cares about UH, not even the uh alum.. that is literally all the tag line very UH hater use talking about UH. he combined them all into one post

Wow.....I was expecting some blow back from my observations about the apathy of the regular Houstonian, and now I'm a hater? I MY SELF have taken classes at Houston!!! Come on! I myself go to games even though I'm a transplant and not a native. Coogs need guys like me.--don't spit on those of us who despite having different alliegences still support the Coogs (the local program) by taking classes, buying Coog gear and buying event tickets. Pesik, I have nothing against you. I'll even meet you at a game this year. Thanks for getting my back Old Tiger, you summed me up well. BTW, I'm in the Army Reserve. I drill monthly and I was specifically talking about my unit here where there are many of us taking classes at Houston.
Cheers!

All of that is great and dandy but trying to push this narrative we are a commuter school when we have identical or better housing rates than almost every public school in Texas
Saying no one cares about Houston even the alums, when we have clearly dominated the local media (more then UTand A&M), when our total ratings are THE BEST in the Houston market.
Taking a class at UH and then insulting us on a false narrative is not what we need

It's not about beds, it's about proximity. Like it or not, Houston is an urban (largely) commuter school, like most urban schools. You are providing a great service and probably part of the reason Houston has grown so much. Hence the discrepancy between attendance at sporting events and enrollment.

We are doing about 40k a game, that's 4th or so in the G5, probably too 3 in actual attendance

If a study was done it would more likely show a correlation in being G5, than being urban as why are attendance isnt 80k huge

Season........Houston.......ECU.........Memphis
2015............33.9...........43.2......... 43.8
2014.............28.3...........44.7........33.8
2013.............24.3...........44...........28.5
2012.............27.2...........47...........24.4
2011.............31.7...........50.3.........20.8

I went back 5 years to get good overall views of 3 programs in our conference; 1 is a traditional smaller town university and 2 are in large(er) population areas. Houston is drawing very good this year and deserves congrats. But it's fairly obvious that attendance is dependent on wins and losses, isn't it? To be fair, I went back as far as I did to show that Memphis isn't immune to Houston's issues........there are more similarities than differences in athletic department challenges despite any kind of paint any of us wish to try.
