For the Bettors
Saw this on the ESPN site:
Best Bet Of The Day: 97% of the $ at 108 William Hill sportsbooks in Nevada was on Western Michigan to cover as 13 pt favorites, won by 41.

Congrats on the season so far. Keep it rolling.

I never thought 3% of bettors were Zip fans... 03-lmfao

We've just opened at -23 or so against EMU. I will probably look to take the points at that number. EMU in the running for most improved team in the country.

Both teams are 5-1 ATS. Western has covered every game except NIU.

RE: For the Bettors
Maybe we should negotiate just a 21 point WMU win. That way everyone is happy.

I would be accepting of a 21-point win, but not ecstatic.

They beat us without a coach a few years ago. Last year was fun, but it was in nasty weather and there were only 50 of us there.

How about a 42 point win in beautiful Waldo Stadium in beautiful fall weather?

Two years ago was even more fun. TD's on all 7 first-half drives. Albeit it was cold as balls that day.

That's a teaser. I think it'll come way down by the time the money hits the airwaves.

Agree with you, which is why I jumped on it right away. Unfortunately limits this early in the week are very, very low.

EDIT: Already some movement in EMU's favor. If somehow it gets to 17-ish I would probably look to set up a middle.

I wouldn't touch that spread. I think we're capable of covering it handily if we play like last week.

I would Not go with that. Not saying it can't be beat, especially since it's at home (and not on the B&W prison field which can be distracting).

I know I'm going to sound like a debbie-downer.... Although our running game was great against Akron, if someone told me, given their Horrible D this year, that we'd shut them out -- I'd say we'd score over 50 points without flinching. Instead, our O stalled for a good portion of the game after the 1st 4 TD possessions, and we got 41 at the end. Point being, our O can be stopped, despite amazing running stats and a decent pass %.

EMU's D looks like it can step up. And they will be FIRED UP for this game. Their O can score too, and our D can step up on drives, but it's no brick wall.

I could see this being like the NIU game -- where we don't pull away until the end, and win by a couple possessions. Would not shock me in the least -- although I so desperately want us to pound them into the ground. But to be fair, I also wouldn't be shocked if we ran away with it either and win by 30.

I would put a fair spread @ 17.

I wouldn't say we stalled for a good portion. We definitely took shots to Thompson that we don't usually take.

Congrats on the season so far. Keep it rolling.

The only thing that matters is the "W."

I don't care if it is by 40+ points or 1 point.

EMU treats this game, and its game against CMU, as its Bowl Game. A win in either defines its season. Each year it always plays one, or the other, or sometimes both, tough. This year will be no exception.

Screw the betters.

Just get the "W."

I think you are right that EMU is treating this like a bowl game.

I understand there are buses going from Ypsi to the game. Doubt we saw that two years ago.

Points definitely matter when you want to move up the ranks. Need to beat every team by 30

+1.

A one point win Saturday is as good as a loss in the eyes of the media, poll voters, and CFP selection committee. Say goodbye to our ranking if that happens.

Life as a ranked G5 school with crappy SOS numbers is tough...
