Yes, it was an ugly game that we gutted out. We cannot make mistakes next week against Navy. Tulane was a fresh team since they did not have to play last week, which factors in also.

Would this have been a 31-7 score if Tulane played the game last week at UCF? Who knows.

I hope Dontrel Nelson gets healthy soon, we will need him against Tulsa, he's our best cover corner.

RE: Official Memphis Vs. Tulane Game Thread
I didn't get to see all the game, but #87 for tulane was a beast last night on every play i watched. Tulane's defense was really really good last night, and imo, he was the anchor of it. Not sure if ya'll remember him from last year when he threw a punch (it didn't land) at one of our offensive lineman. A little later in the same game, Jam Henderson said hello.

I thought our defense did good too. I'm liking how the secondary is changing up things and giving help, because last year we strictly played man on man coverage with no help which is why teams starting going deep on us so much.

I thought our offense looked ok last night. I give more credit to tulane's defense for keeping our offense from going off.

Anyone got an injury report? I thought i saw genard avery get banged up. Also i believe db #10 was grabbing his hamstring.

We outsmarted a candidate for Big12 expansion and that's all that counts.

Lol. These endings are growing pains for Norvell. In the larger context of my fandom we're sitting pretty having to experience these as growing pains. Do I wish we could freaking cover? Yea...but at least we are 5-1. And honestly I wouldn't put 100% of the blame on Norvell for us not covering tonight.

I couldn't care less about whether we cover. I dont really see why it matters, unless you've bet on the game. Having said that, I wish we'd scored on our last drive and won 31-7 just cuz that looks a lot better than 24-14.

I agree. A score like that might get you votes but 24-14 just doesn't look as good

Well, it WAS on the road. Hopefully that will count for something.

I think Avery will find a way to play in NFL. Both are good though.

Navy is ranked and they only won 21-14. Tulane isn't terrible. There only other loss is 7-3 to Wake Forest.

I was very glad to see the band, they did a great job as always. I was not wild about the stadium, but I truly enjoyed the people that we had a chance to meet that were Tulane fans. We had a very enjoyable experience for the most part, Bourbon Street was its usual colorful self and the drinks are still good at Absinthe. We utilized our Uber app and had three cars available for our group within minutes from Lafitte's and returning from the stadium, $11.00.

For those at the game, as I did not get a chance to get a real good shot of the full crowd from ESPN, how many Memphis folks do you estimate made the trip last night?

I was referring to it "counting for something" with the AP voters. 04-cheers

It 21K and change, and I think that was a fair number, given the one shot I had of the home side during the first half. Stadium's capacity is 30K.

Nobody sits in their chairbacks

Maybe a 1000 at the most in them

Students weren't there because of fall break so that hurt also

Plus that stadium is the poster child for why we don't need an OCS

I saw the home side flash once on tube. I couldn't even fathom what side it could be for a sec...but there was no blue so I knew. Abysmal.
