Flooding around ECU?
I read that Greenville is within the area that is flooding in the aftermath of last week's hurricane. How is ECU holding up?

Flooding around ECU?
I haven't heard much about ECU area, but Grifton is as bad as Floyd and highway 11 between Ayden and Kinston is closed at the bridge on the county line due to water being over the top of the bridge now. It's so bad in that area that the road into Grifton is closed and the water is almost to the fire/police station.

Pitt County Schools are closed for the rest of the week (probably will be longer at this point), ECU is closed Thursday and Friday (they were/still are on fall break), and PCC is closed the rest of the week.

I feel lucky to live where I'm at. I live in the country (no flooding) and I don't have to cross a bridge to get to Greenville (so not disconnected)

School is closed and everybody that is in the projected danger zone(s) have been notified to evacuate and provided assistance. there are always the crazies who ignore though. The area just north of campus are usually the most vulnerable due to their proximity to the river. Hopefully only a material toll and not a human one.

RE: Flooding around ECU?
My daughter couldn't get back to her apartment from work Saturday evening. Idiot boss kept the restaurant open Saturday and didn't shut down until 6pm. She turned around several times upon encountering water across streets and on the last one there was standing water in the intersection that she couldn't see for rain and darkness. Her car filled with water but fortunately she could get out of the car. She was left in the middle of Hurricane on the side of the road. A hero came along (911 told her she was on her own) and convinced her to get in their truck (mass murderer or rescuer???) and with some difficulty got her home.

This is serious business people. We have had many deaths, mainly from being swept way by moving water in their cars. The Tar river doesn't crest until Thursday. Lots of Greenville is or will be underwater. Fortunately, my daughter is safe on high ground. I have no doubt her car is totaled and the few thousand insurance will pay will not come close to what we will need to replace it. I brought her my car so I'm stuck with a 15mpg SUV.

Yup worst than Floyd and that doesn't even factor in if someone upriver opens up a dam.

I think of all the hog farms and think that can't be good with all the flooding.

I don't live in eastern NC anymore, but a friend just sent me a photo of the airport runways underwater. Two of my nephews have been busy removing furniture from the house of their aunt before the water gets inside.

ECU seems to be okay, but things are pretty serious for the surrounding area.

My nieces had to stay at a hotel the other night as the flooding got pretty bad where they are at. (5 miles from Greenville) the creek flooded over. I'll have them send me pics and I'll post the yard.
Cheers!

Here are some images from NOAA of flood impacted areas.

http://storms.ngs.noaa.gov/storms/matthew/index.html

They are adding more as time goes on.

Also there are some videos on youtube like this one of flood impacts in greenville specifically. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2E10XxfdG4

Already nasty. Pretty much every major road is flooded, almost flooded, or cut off cause of flooding. Somehow Walmart is still open but I don't see how workers or shoppers are getting there.
