And the nominees are...
Sorry Wilkie. Best 5 is too generic. How about categories, nominees
Here are the categories - ... You all provide the nominees. (1 per)

1. Best AAC team 2016
2. Best AAC team since conference formed.
3. Team that most benefitted from AAC inclusion.
4. Team most hurt by AAC inclusion.

1. Best AAC team 2016 - Navy until somebody proves differently. 10-1 v. AAC since inclusion.
2. Best AAC team since conference formed. Houston Three year record.
3. Team that most benefitted from AAC inclusion. Tulane - AAC enabling an upgrade in their FB profile based on this year.
4. Team most hurt by AAC inclusion. None of the above.

Our football team, such as it is, really is just a matter of a good, competent coach.
AAC didn't really raise our football profile...we've played with most of these same teams for years. Only spent one year in a bad football or basketball conference in our existence (the last year in C-USA).
Staying in C-USA, however, would have killed us (especially after the sunbelt expansion).

All valid points. I think that with the exception of UConn and Navy we are all "naturals" for the conference and it was the next home conference evolution. Separate from conference affiliation, ECU has struggled lately, while Houston and Memphis (football) have thrived. None of those 3 are related directly to the AAC however, but to improved coach selection (processes).

I don't think UCF gets to or wins a BCS game without being in this conference... and since that's the ultimate mountain top for a G5 school (pre-playoff)... I'd have to say we benefited most from inclusion.
