A quick hello to my CMU announcers friends that mocked the Broncos...
A few weekends ago while traveling through northern Michigan I happened to catch the CMU broadcast from Oklahoma State. In previewing the Chips the upcoming home games, the CMU play-by-play and color guy referenced the upcoming October game with the Broncos by referencing "that team from Kalamazoo that's bringing their boats, oars and whatever other gimmick they come up with" to Kelly-Shorts stadium. Well, I found the comment both interesting and entertaining and filed it in the memory bank. Anyway, I hope you both had an entertaining, gimmick filled evening last night watching your boys get absolutely worked! Oh, don't forget to ROW THE BOAT color guy and sidekick no-name play-by-play guy!

Quote:“I would rather go through another eight weeks of chemo and radiation than lose to that football team the way we lost tonight,” Bonamego said. “That’s the truth of how I feel.”

Boom goes the dynamite. Shock. And. Awe.

That seems a little harsh. Football is one thing, cancer/chemo is another.

I think HE would know that, right? Metaphor anyone?

I mean, Bono himself said it. It's not like some beat writer said it about them.

HE said it, not me... as the article then pointed out how big of a statement that was:

Quote:Going out of his way to give media permission to quote and print what he was about to say before offering it, Bonamego gave a glimpse into how much beating Western Michigan means to him.

Twitter was abuzz with many users criticizing Bonamego for his choice of words, although many also gave him as a pass as a cancer survivor.

Bonamego was clearly emotional and in the moment when making his comment, although it was clear he understood some criticism would be coming his way due to prefacing it with permission.

And to be fair -- I don't think that was the craziest statement out there. Betting COMPLETELY Beat Down at home to a sell-out crowd to CMU/WMU when you seem to be having a good year -- it will hurt you about as much as anything out there.

I understand that. Seems like a real stretch...more chemo in lieu of getting punched in the face by the Broncos...."that's the truth of how I feel" 01-wingedeagle

The meat-head you are referring to is Brock Gutierrez, I believe. He is the color guy and is featured on local TV segments previewing CMU football games. He is a complete homer and borderline unprofessional. He mentioned several times the "hatred" for WMU. I wanted to punch my TV, but saved it for the Lions game punch (I can only afford 1 TV per week).

In the same vein, I remember having to hear the Northwestern radio dweebs say that we were "on the ropes" down only 7-0 in the first quarter in Evanston.
