I am impressed with SDSU's numbers. I did not realize they drew that well.
Unfortunately, our numbers will drop during weekday games.
Our numbers would look great in the old Murph that seated 52k. However, the Q now seats 70k.
We are all but assured a 45k stadium once the Chargers leave. Drawings have been rendered and prospective seating charts have been sent to Season Ticket holders.

Yeah, when USF played Syracuse, I thought their attendance was bad. They announced around 31K I think, but there were no more than 20K in the house. Maybe less.

Next USF game at home will be Homecoming vs ECU. Thought we would get a good crowd. Now with the game once again at noon, beating UC is a must.
Im going to say we will get 40K announced and 25-29K in seats at best. Im thinking many will pass and watch on tv after experiencing the heat last week.

I forget - how exactly was the Q expanded? It's the same stadium as Jack Murphy, correct? Is the new stadium going to a redesign, or is it in a different location?

It is the same location. Originally, there was an open end zone which made "The Murph" perfect for Football and Baseball (52,000 for Football). However, in order to get a Super Bowl to San Diego (Packers vs Broncos in 1998 I believe) the citizens of San Diego agreed to raise the hotel tax, and expanded the stadium to its current configuration of 70,000. In the process, the Murph was renamed Qualcomm Stadium, and lost all of its charm.
The Citizens of SD will never again agree to raise any tax or fee on behalf of the Chargers and the NFL. There will be a vote in November to again raise the hotel tax so that the Chargers will get a new stadium. The vote needs 66.7% to pass, and it is unlikely to even get 50%. The Chargers will then leave for LA.
"SDSU Campus West" is already in the plans. Drawings have been rendered, and stadium seating charts are being sent out to Season Ticket Holders.

To be more clear, once the Chargers leave, the Q will be torn down, and SDSU is set to occupy the site, build dorms, classrooms, parks, and a new ~45,000 seat stadium. It is unofficially being called "SDSU Campus West." This build is essential to the expansion of SDSU as it is the largest school in the California State University system, and is still growing.

They had that many for WVU a few years back. I know App had more than the 34,600 announced for Miami as that was the limit set by the fire marshall, as such, they wouldn't report anything higher so actual attendance is likely averaging at 30,000.

RE: Week 4 G5 Attendance Averages
Here at Temple I don't see us holding the avg at 28k looking at the remaining games. It's a shame but folks here only come out in big numbers for the big, big boys.
So with no Penn State or Notre Dame on the schedule, we most likely drop from our 45k avg last year to 25k this season. That will probably be the biggest drop in college football ..

Place an asterisk next to UH from now on. UH's average is closer to 55K. That game was as neutral as a fight at a party between me and someone at my brother's place.

I am impressed with SDSU's numbers. I did not realize they drew that well.
I was just about to but-in and say it was inflated due to the Cal game but they actually drew more for the New Hampshire opener. Impressive, assuming the numbers are anywhere close to legit and not fauxed up like Miami.

It's why I wonder why the AAC added them in the first place. Tulsa hasn't fielded many bad teams over the last decade or so but can't get high attendance because of the small school size and because it's dwarfed by OSU and OU.
Water under the bridge now but in hindsight not a wise move.

I watched that Tulane-ULaLa game.
I recall being surprised how raucous and pro-Tulane that crowd was, believe it or not.
If Willie Fritz can string together some good seasons, and bring some big names into Yulman, Tulane could probably have the best fan support of the privates.

RE: Week 4 G5 Attendance Averages
Tulane has been bad for so long and its student body/alumni/fan base has such a disconnect with most of New Orleans, I doubt they ever build a large fan base beyond 15K loyalists.
