Let the coaching carousel begin
Miles is out at LSU. Two years ago I would have said Hud could be heading that way, but his star has fallen.
Let the speculation begin.

Herman is going to get it, I hope he takes his coordinators with him and it leaves Houston in a hole.

RE: Let the coaching carousel begin
LSU is known for making out of the box hires. When they hired Saban from Michigan State many people were wondering why. When LSU hired Miles from Oklahoma State not many knew about him either. I think they make another out of box hire. Herman and Fisher clearly at the top of the list but I believe someone else will get the job.

Todd Graham and Larry Fedora are two names that come to mind pretty quickly. I don't expect LSU to hire somebody who doesn't have P5 head coaching experience.

Fedora would be a mistake, great offensive mind, but everywhere he has gone from Southern Miss, to Carolina, he has had great offenses but lousy defenses, he is basically an offensive coordinator playing HC. LSU is such a high stakes job, the next HC better be really good on both sides of the ball.

Whoever LSU hires will keep the current DC. He is one of the top in the game.

Arkansas State will take him after they fire Anderson. He's about to suffer the Cristobal effect. Tough time for the fighting Blake Andersons.

Briles would be best, as many of the best offensive P5 teams in the country came from that lineage. Bring in the man himself.

Houston might not be a P5 but they are playing like it under Herman. He's the man I would take just looking at recent success. However...he's pretty much winning with their last head coach's recruits...I'd have to see how he's been doing in that department...although it's hard to trust a guy with a son named TD and the other one named Maverick

I think it was silly to fire him at this point in the season. If they wanted him gone they should have stuck with it after last season. I say if Orgeron wins out like he did at USC go ahead and give him a shot at LSU.

I agree. They still have a shot at a pretty good year. That half-second too long to snap the ball on the final play may have literally cost him his job. There must have been a lot of money telling LSU to let him go.

It wasn't the 0:01 that cost him his job, it was the 1:57 that he mismanaged after crossing midfield. Yes, they had nearly 2:00 minutes left after crossing midfield, and ran out of time. It was also not having his team ready to snap the ball on the whistle. Total unpreparedness, which is the MO of a Miles team. That is what cost him his job.
As far as the Houston coach, they will probably get that Big 12 invite, so he will have a P5 job and no pressure for the next couple years. Why leave that for the pressure that is at LSU???

Money, prestige, exposure, tradition, brand presence, facilities, talent level of the roster, conference stability, and gumbo just to name a few.

I was thinking the same thing. It's worth taking a shot at him to see if he accepts or declines but if Houston is going to the B12, there are people in charge at Houston who already likely know this, and thus so would the coach, following a strong hint that he may want to sign a new contract asap and stick around for a few with a wink and a handshake.

He is getting all of that at Houston. They doubled his salary to $3M per. If he makes the playoff you think it will not go to $4M?

My choice for LSU would be Petrino from Louisville. Some baggage but the best offensive mind in college football.
