This was F'ckwx up game day experience. We will probably loose a lot of fans if the chancellor does not back off the letter he sent out.
Or you know lose more fans because
1) He will be restricting free speech
2) He will be seen as easily swayed/a flip flopper
3) That backing off of it will be on the wrong side of history
4) That students/facility will protest and may even suggest a vote of no confidence
His letter/stance is spot on and if you disagree then you're just over reacting to the entire situation that probably caused tension in the stadium and didn't help the players any in their attempt to win.

Actually if you go to marchinpirates.org you can read the expectations of the marching pirAtes they agreed too. The letter he sent out to the student body which my daughter received outline expected student behavior which this protest was outside the guidelines set forth last week. I seriously doubt my daughter would be granted exception for peacefully breaking the U''s policies or guidelines. The chancellor granted special privilege to these protestors. Sorry but they where wrong and the chancellor is wrong.
link the actual guidelines they broke (link above is just the band site) ..im actually curious now..
gut feeling is that you "think" they broke a rule but actually don't know what rule they broke..
no public school has guidelines that say you cant protest or you have to stand for the national anthem.. they likely have vague rule like "acting appropriately" or representing the school but those are interpretation rules and those interpreting are fine with it
secondly why do you care so much, they kneeled, you can not look at them for 2 minutes and then move on with your life
third, you chancellor made the brilliant decision no matter what side you are on on this issue,
option 1: let them protest, a few disgruntled ecu fans who cant see the bigger picture complain for 2 days and then get over it
option 2: punish them, causing even bigger protest, causing a media circus around ecu, ecu gets labelled a institutionally racist school (hurt academics) and like the Missouri situation almost everyone could get fired and have their name tarnished forever
your chancellor made the smart decision if you think he is wrong, im glad you arent in any position of similar power and would be willing to destroy an institution/yourself because of pride and a non disruptive protest
