Not trying to rip on ucf... just think it's a big jump with limited evidence. It would be less surprising than the utter disaster collapse of last season

You can make an argument for many teams to be in the middle. Doesn't really matter because it is opinion now. As the conference schedule moves along it will be more based on fact.

RE: Week 4 Rank 'em
I agree with Chappy's clusters; with a few alterations in the middle two clusters.

Houston (clearly dominant 1/3 of the way through)

USF (3-1; getting smoked by an angry FSU was an anomaly; this is a good team)
Navy (Undefeated is undefeated; schedule a bit better than MEMPHIS, thus # 2 in this cluster)
Memphis (Undefeated with light schedule; thus # 3 in this cluster; first road game at Ole Miss this Saturday)
Cincinnati (3-1, only loss at home to UH)
Tulsa (3-1, only loss at Ohio State; enough said)

ECU (Hardest OOC schedule and 2-2; top of this cluster)
Tulane (2-2 and improving; some allowance for past futility pushes them ahead of Knights)
UCF (2-2 but both losses to P5 competition warrants rank above the Owls this week)
Temple (2-2 and declining)

UConn (2-2, but blowing that Navy game relegates them to bottom cluster)
SMU (2-2, and at the bottom)

Agree. Not sure what to make of UC or UM as the level of competition in their victories have been terrible.

I agree with that, but you can only play the ones in front of you. How you handle them at least gives a bit of an idea, I think.

1. Houston (Until proven otherwise)
2. S. Florida (Despite getting blown out, they have yet to stumble mightily)
3. Navy (They keep finding ways to win; tough test against 3-0 Air Force)
4. UCF (In Milton's 2nd game ever, Knights rolled to 53-14 win)
5. Memphis (3-0 but against absolutely no one; Ole Miss will be the real test)
6. East Carolina (Smoked by VT)
7. Tulsa (Had to stage huge comeback to beat 1-3 team in 2OT)
8. Cincinnati (One TD win against 0-4 team)
9. Temple (Might stumble to bowl eligibility towards the end of the season)
10. SMU (Smoked by TCU)
11. UConn (Maine, UVa, and Syracuse are awful)
12. Tulane (Looking forward to seeing how they progress this season)

Just an observation. "3-0 but against absolutely no one" is accurate, but does the score count at all?

We beat Bowling Green 77-3. Ohio State beat them 77-10. I'm not saying Memphis is Ohio State, but doesn't that give you a hint that we might be decent? Especially since we were up 56-3 at the half, and played third stringers the entire second half?

We were up 33-7 on KU at the half, and coasted with scrubs. We were up 29-0 on SEMO in the 2nd Q, and coasted with scrubs.

We should lose to Ole Miss, so not sure how much that will tell us, either, but AAC games start after that, so it won't take long to figure out then.

Or it just means bowling green is that bad.

It means something. I cannot remember average teams beating up on FBS teams like this.

I moved Memphis up to 2nd and Tulsa tied for 6th.

1. Houston
2. Memphis
T3. Navy/USF
5. Cinci
6. Temple/Tulsa
8. ECU
9. UCF
10. Tulane
11. UConn
12. SMU

I really think many are sleeping on Tulsa. They're better than getting credit for.

So now we are up to thumping 3 teams and going into double OT with a good Maryland team.
