The Trojan Dark Horse
I thought NMSU was doing well this season considering..
Have been surprised by Troy this year... didn't see that one coming...
to this degree anyway. Impressive!
Troy is looking more and more like a serious threat to steal the conference.

RE: The Trojan Darkhorse
NMSU put 42 on Kentucky and lead some of the game...Trying to be cautiously optimistic .
Great schedule ahead too. Our only OOCgame left is umass.
11-1 season would be FANTASTIC!

Congrats on your SB championship this year Trojans! looks like the Boros (both Jones and States) won't be standing in your way, just have to tussle with the mountain men of Boone.

I just can't see how a guy can throw for 445 yards and the team only scores 6 points.

I didnt say they were a lock... just complimenting their performance thus far. They are playing as well as ANYONE in the belt... I'd invite anybody to argue otherwise.

RE: The Trojan Darkhorse
Troy has been FBS since 2001 and won 5 SBC championships BUT this is the first time in FBS history we have started 3-1
And possibly one bad call away from 4-0

I guess it shouldn't be that surprising but UL stAte APP and GS have dominated the conference conversation in TXST's tenure here. So yes... ive been a bit surprised.

Yes but we ruled this conference well and long before them. This has felt good

RE: The Trojan Dark Horse
I think Troy's success this season is not so much due to talent but rather coaching and maturity (not many seniors on the team, but tons of juniors). This Troy team will peak next year.
Coaching: Having three experienced former BCS coaches (HC/OC, DC, OL/Co-OC) and young, driven coaches (WR coach from UAB, Co-DC and DL coach from Tulane) is the main reason why Troy is suddenly winning games, IMO. This and a pretty good Defensive line. Otherwise, I don't think we have better talent than other good SBC teams. I hope we can keep these coaches around a bit longer, even though all of these coaches used to be at Troy some years ago, so maybe since they already coached at Big12, ACC, SEC programs in the past, they might stick around a bit longer this time...
Hopefully we can build on this success and win a few more games. Our passing game is still avg, still no rhythm and we need to improve our 3rd down conversions.

From Troy athletics...Troy leads the country in ints (10), ranks 2nd in fewest sacks allowed (1), 4th in turnover margin (1.75) & 3rd turnovers forced (12)

Not gonna happen, maybe if Troy wins the next 5 games. Maybe.

We MIGHT start receiving votes soon. But to get ranked we are gonna need to win 10 or 11 games. Which with our remaining schedule is possible

Maybe a few votes, but I doubt people are paying attention. Our wins are not impressive enough. Win over Clemson would have done the job or maybe we should've played a mediocre SEC team instead...
I agree, if USM wins most of its games and Troy wins out + a decent bowl win, maybe then we might get ranked.

Coaching, yes. But, to discount these two classes that they brought into the program plus the players that were allowed to stay on this team is very short-sighted. You cannot have good coaching without the players that choose to receive that coaching. This may be one of the most talented teams, if you count stars, that Troy has had since moving to FB$. The jury is still out on that. This is a time of excitement and adulation within the Trojan Nation.
At this point, we don't have to be lights out in the passing game because we possess one of the best RB-by-committee backfields in the conference and not too far from being a top 25 ranked attack. Take your positives where you can get them.
