RE: OT: Les Miles fired at LSU
If I'm Houston, I'd be working on some structure right now to offer Herman some sort of an open-ended, permanent contract based upon an average of annual salaries at certain schools or position (or have escalators that make him guaranteed to be a Top X paid coach).

He's proved he can coach, and Houston needs to do something to differentiate themselves or they will eventually lose him to one of the few mega-programs out there. I'm actually surprised permanent, indefinite appointments aren't used more often in college sports.

on a smaller scale, I said the same thing about LE before he left for colo-fkn-rado st......

that's XACLY! what they should be thinking right now....

that by itself gets them into the p5 level.....those 'monies' (however obtained) are there......

That $5M bonus, plus his current $2.8M base would make him the highest paid coach in America for that year, I'm sure they could rework his base quickly if need be soon after.

I agree!

1) Petrino- I think he would be high but would probably stay at Louisville because he's already made one huge mistake before.
2) Herman- very good possibility he could leave UH for LSU
3) Fisher- also a good possibility he could leave FSU for LSU
4) Hugh Freeze- I don't think he would leave to go to LSU. I would love to see him leave Oxford but since he has Old Piss on a high and he's accepted up there, he would be put into a fiery lake for instant success at LSU.
5) Larry Fedora- I think his name would be mentioned alot but I don't think he would be stupid enough to take the LSU job and leave UNC right now.

Think you are right with petrino, herman as well, but Fisher isnt going anywhere.

And fedora would be on the next train for LSU but i don't think he has the resume really.

no doubt....however, he's been hampered with sanctions at uncheaterville....also, he has a long leash to deal with that.....

having said that, I serious doubt lswhooo hires another head coach that once coached here.....let's call it the 'voodoo of lswhoo do' principle....

what's sad with that for them, fedhat would find 'em a qb....I would like to see what he could do in BR and think he would be a good fit there.....

If LSU offers, Houston coach goes...If they don't, you'll hear the old "I love my job here at Houston and won't leave"....and takes the next job offered. Same ole scenario....

no doubt....the question has now become a matter of "when".....they've already decided to can the season and become the master of hiring the best available....

this one is going to be interesting in methodology....shite, they may look straight to the NoFunLeague at an OC....

^^^THIS!! I'm guessing Art Briles to LSU, because the leadership there badly wants to THROW the football. Too soon? Sure. But Briles' resume is too good, and LSU is going to wait until after the season to hire him anyway.

The caveat is, Tom Herman to LSU, Art Briles back to Univ of Houston.

LSU won't go with a defensive guy this time (Miles was a defensive guy). LSU's leadership wants a wide open PASSING offense that will attract better QB and Receiver recruits. Miles couldn't get it done.

They might also look at former LA Tech coach and current CAL coach Sonny Dykes. He's not super happy at CAL anyway, and he has a great track record of developing great QB's. Dykes is also from nearby Texas and has some fans in Louisiana from his days at Tech.

Anyone know what Petrino makes at UofL? I would say that since UofL gave him a second chance, he would be loyal and not leave, but let's be honest, we are taking Bobby Petrino.

Wow. Just as I anticipated. LSU really wants to hire a guy that THROWS the football alot. They want those top QB recruits to start choosing LSU instead of everyone else.

Coach O has a chance to impress. They could keep him.
How many C-USA coaches will interview with him and get a raise?
