I don't want any harm to anyone but if Memorial gym burned to the ground I wouldn't shed a tear

Daughter #1 was in Vanderbilt for her freshman year. She hated it. By Christmas she trying to get a transfer. Girls wore heels to class and acted snobby. Transferred to Columbia and loved it.

Late in the game, Vandy got the lead and Jack Eaton said the dorms were emptying and students were coming to the game to take part in a victory.

It was so bad when I went there in 1972 that we actually went to a Vandy-Bama game, and we pulled for Bama because they were in contention for the SEC title or national title or something. I think I only attended a couple of games while at Vandy, although I did go to some bb games.

As with all schools, it's about finding the right fit for your personality. You can't be "snobbed" if you have enough self confidence; you just ignore it. Vandy has a large enough student population to find your niche. They do not all wear heels and act snobby.

But every school has its particular flavor and a student should be happy and just love their college experience. I wish I had gone to college when I had gained some maturity because the socialization process would have been so much easier.

Vandy doesn't have any fans. Especially ones that travel, even if it's to Murfreesboro.

Ok, alum. I never went to a game, but have been on the Vandy campus on a game day and there were people too old to be students in black and gold going to the game.

It was 1988. I was a freshman in the MSOS, and you are right it was a torrential downpour. That was one of Stobart's 6-5 years and that was the last game of the year.

Stobart didn't get there until 1989 and he didn't have a winning season here until 1992. It was Bailey that went 6-5 and beat Vandy in 88.

My bad, about 2,000 total fans. Have you ever seen that stadium whenever an SEC comes? Those are their big games and they are outnumbered 4-1. Other schools buy their season tickets.

I know this isn't popular around here to say so but I'd like Memphis to play UTK, Vandy & UK every year in FB & BB (would have been great timing to have played UTK over the last 2 yrs). We might take our lumps with UTK in FB most times but it would be worth the gate & interest - and Memphis will be competitive & win some too. I see us having the upper hand against UK in FB & BB would have an extreme interest in Memphis. We'd have the upper hand most years in FB & BB against Vandy. These would all be games that all would draw 40K+ to sellouts in FB & sellout in BB. And it would be good for recruiting, giving us added credibility in the greater mid-south.

Like it or not, Memphis folks will come out to see Memphis play regional P5 schools compared to FCS & Kansas. And we need butts in the seats & the credibility wins among this group would give us.

Very true. Memphis should have a lot better FB schedule . V tech and Arz st inroads with coaches should help. Would like to see Arky ,Vandy , Kty down the road. Not being in the P5 , it is a must to schedule better . And LB needs to drop Big 12 like it's hot.

Those inroads with Kentucky sure have gotten us lots of basketball games.

Yeah, I remember Georgia fans completely took over Centennial park.

Just spanked MTSU.

+7 @ WKY this week.

I was at the game. It really wasn't a spanking - as much as you would think if you just look at the score. MTSU actually outplayed Vandy during the first half - they just screwed up twice during the last 2 minutes and gave up 2 td's. Then they made it close again in the 3rd, before Vandy pulled away in the 4th.

Vandy is not good.

As for the series...I believe it was announced within the past 2 years that we would get a fb/bb series, but I hear Vandy is backing out again.

In the year and a half I was up there every other weekend, I don't remember seeing lots of homeless people.

They have some - but it's a weak base. They're home-side chair backs don't fill up on game day. MTSU was 40:60 with Vandy fans before the storm delay. After the delay, it was 75% MTSU.

Memorial Gym is a fascinating piece of architecture in general.

That's one word for it. In addition to the goofy floor configuration, the sightlines are not very good, and there are still a lot of old wooden bleacher seating throughout.
