That only gives ULM two years to find a $$$ game if NMSU can find a money game for themselves.

According to the e-mail and indeed checking back at their schedules it's not that they're dropping to 5 home games because of budget reason but they want to avoid a 6th game because fans can't afford a 6 game package?

Wow! If real...they need to drop to FCS. Every G5 team has to almost schedule a FCS school to get 6 home games. Having 5 is such a disadvantage.

I think the title of this thread is misleading. They are trying to drop what they consider an "extra" home game. They've only had 5 home games for as far back as I can check. For $400k, I say we take it.

This is real, this email was revealed when someone was retrieving information about our baseball stadium project through the FOIA.

My understanding is we want to get rid of New Mexico and instead get a home game with a regional opponent such as Rice, Tulsa, etc. UNM won't travel and our fans don't really care about that game and we owe them a $400k guarantee. We owed Southern $250k, had a nice crowd and covered that. Southern wouldn't have even covered the $400k and that was a really good crowd. I hear we want 6 home games in the future, so that's the party that perplexes me. This is a VERY misleading thread title. Of course it came from a Cajun fan.

Did you bother to read the email from your AD? That's not what his email says and even if what you are saying is true, the thread title fits perfectly. I watched a baseball regional with us and Rice IN Houston, their sport and they had nobody...the ones that were there were a 100 years old...Rice fans aren't traveling to Monroe for a football

I don't know why you would voluntarily cede a home game, but it's not for financial reasons.

The reason given in the e-mail is obviously hiding the real reason.

Well I can tell you what NMSU's Ad likely said "We already play UNM every year."

I was saying paying $400k for UNM doesn't make much sense. If it was a P5 maybe so because of the potential attendance. UNM no one cares about. I don't think this means we are in serious money trouble. It means we are trying to make a sound financial decision. As for the 6 home games, that was dumb to say if true. I am disturbed by the email, but think the title of this post is misleading.
