I saw that, binks.

looked bad on TV, my friend.

That Army game is going to haunt UTEP fans for a while.

I bet Army yesterday against Buffalo. Buffalo was winless, including a loss to Albany State. Buffalo beat them heads up. After the Army/UTEP game I thought it was a lock.

Last night late in the game when they put the camera on the UTEP head coach, he had a look I have never seen on a head coach's face. It looked like he wanted to beat the hell out of somebody or it looked like he wanted to say screw this and just quit and go home to have a beer.

Seriously, UTEP doesn't appear to be a bad team. From what I see, me personally I could see UTEP go bowling this year.

No.

He is right even if it seems very unlikely. Next week vs LT is already lost but the last 7 games, UTEP will be playing equally struggling teams. Anything is possible but I am hoping for either a big turnaround or a new coaching staff.

We should remember that the Miners just played one of the best in C-USA. Defense did better this week but no offense. Same result next week I would bet.

I think your a qb away from being a good team.

they are in a pickle there...you cannot win w/o one that can manage behind the line in PT....they tried the other.....

any way you look at it, if you don't have one, it's too easy to defend against en macro....

I know it's nice to have local players on the team. But at UTEP, maybe it's not a good thing to have a lot of local players ? Just from an outsiders perspective, I can't imagine there's a ton of talent in the area. Seems like a program that would need a lot of Juco's from Kansas and other places. Just my opinion.

RE: Southern Miss vs. UTEP discussion/prediction thread
There is football talent in El Paso. The second leading rusher in America is an El Paso boy. I think it's exaggerated how many El Pasoans are on the team or how much the staff focuses on El Paso. The best local players still choose P5 programs which is to be expected. Still, its to UTEP's advantage to recruit El Paso when a lot of the country hears the words 'El' and 'Paso' and assumes all the local kids must be soccer or baseball players.

find a qb from whereversville......start there with a system and work it backwards.....the rest will fall in place....

i.e. it was too easy to adjust to AJ yesterday......we should've done it right out of the gate....

you guys are at a recruiting disadvantage in almost mexico....no differently than we are sandwiched amongst the Suc Em Crumbs folk

it's a biatch.....

The recruiting disadvantage, similar to yours, is being pinned between P5 schools in Texas to the east and the Pac12 and the MWC being to the west. Distance to Mexico has nothing to do with it. As a matter of fact, coaches and former coaches often said recruits and their families are usually swayed if we can actually get them on campus for a visit.

c'mon man....almost mexico is only a geo ref.....

and you guys are in the same recruiting situation in a varying way with mountain separation.....

again, find a qb that fits the system and the rest will fall in place....

and btw, you still have one of our local boys coaching hoops for yaz....so it's not like some of us don't' care about/belittle you guys.....

hell, I didn't bet the game yesterday but loaded up on us against ky jello.....the respect is there.....ya just need a dayum qb....

I know. That is why I said Distance to Mexico.

I know. We also consider Saint Floyd a local boy.

I mean, we have a shitty football program, but I don't think our fan base is worried about other fan bases belittling us.

since we're cherry picking at this point.....no, you need a qb first and foremost...greenlee is not good and metz was hardly better....weak arms with little accuracy....granted our D and your OL had something to do with that....however, we are only little southern miss....

That may be true. I was replying to you saying we just need a QB. We need more than a QB at the moment.

you guys know better about the specifics and intricacies...

fair enough.....I just believe it starts with a coach and qb working downhill from there

there is no questioning there is talent on your squad....AJ gets drafted by the end of the 3rd round....

and as I also tried to imply, we are all in the same budgeting/resource category....

Yea we can't afford a good QB like the SEC schools can. We have to spend all our cash on coaches. And buyouts. We still paying EJ?
