If southern miss doesn't win CUSA they will come damn close. USM is a good football team that we could not just put away and very nearly won.

Having been to Troy I assume a local hotel room is hard to come by on game day. Any tips other than Montgomery?

Dothan is about 45mins south of Troy. It's about Hattiesburg size. There's about 5-6 good decent hotels in Troy. You can get a room if u book far enough out.

Forgot about Dotham, used to be in sales and I pretty much covered south Alabama. Didn't mean Troy doesn't have decent hotels, stayed there a lot at the Comfort Inn. Just not enough for a college football weekend.
Work myself now, pretty hard to plan anything more than a couple weeks out.

There's not enough hotels your right... and if you look too late you won't find a hotel in Troy that has a room left.

I would guess a 1,000 but I sit on the same side a few sections down so hard for me to see. They brought more than Tulane* or Memphis even did when they were conference mates but probably half as many as Louisiana did on thier last visit.

They were loud enough and made an interesting game atmosphere, something we rarely see at the Rock.

I would like to see the series continue.

*CORRECTION Tulane easily brought the largest CUSA crowd ever to the Rock in '99.

I personally wasn't looking forward to this series and am looking forward to it ending. No disrespect I went to the game and got soaked. I just don't like playing the sunbelt conference. That conference just has always had an interest in Southern Miss. I know because of travel, etc. but I want to put distance between us and the belt. That's why every Christmas I am crossing my fingers because somehow we find a way into that dreaded NO bowl. They also aggravate me.

What all "G5" schools should do (which I hate that designation) is try and establish a home and home series with teams like Kansas, Virginia, etc. Develop a rivalry with them. The bottom line is that nobody in the college football world cares about "G5" rivalries. But it's just my opinion. On to UTEP. SMTTT
