When you play FCS schools, you get FCS attendance. Don't know why we haven't fired Gragg yet, he is TERRIBLE with marketing, does 2 and 1's with mid-tier P5 schools and sucks at attracting donors. Tulsa should have a home and homes series every year with either Kansas, K-State or Texas Tech.
My main problem with the AD is his unfamiliarity with the city, region and school. We scheduled an FCS team at 1pm in early Sept when the fans knew it would be hot and uncomfortable. We could have easily scheduled this game at 11pm since it wasn't televised and the game would be over at 2pm instead of 4pm (the hootest part of the day). But obviously The AD isn't the brightest bulb in the room. Those 2 for 1's and 1 and dones need to be addressed by our next AD. The AD is from Eastern Michigan who yearly have the worst attendance numbers in all college FB. So his solution is more travel.
The TU president is retiring this year and maybe its time for another administrator to do the same.

Except you don't......
ECU will lead the conference in attendence this season, like we have done with this line up of schools almost every single season since we got into CUSA in 1997.
Cheers!

Yup. We don't have the diehard base big enough yet for weather games. I was however pleasantly surprised with the amount that did show up despite the weather. It could've been like the SMU game last year...

How does the Tulsa AD force Kansas, K-State or Texas Tech to play TU home and home? Evidently those schools do not see any benefit for them to play TU. Scheduling is a two way street.
Don't know how you can say "Evidently those schools do not see any benefit" when there is no evidence we are even trying. Our old AD was able to do home and homes with lower level power 5 teams like Iowa St and Minnesota, so apparently he was able to show mutual benefit. Tulsa is a good recruiting ground and a close drive for the schools I listed, it shouldn't be hard to show mutual benefit.
You can bet your bottom dollar that TU has contacted those Kansas schools and been turned down. Tell me, what is the mutual benefit for K-State to play TU home and home that is better than their other options?
You say Tulsa is good recruiting....well K-State already plays the two top schools in Oklahoma every year and Stillwater is only about 60 miles down the turnpike from Tulsa and it is closer to K-State than Tulsa.
Also, K-State can schedule the likes of Miami, Auburn and Stanford home and home. Which you have to admit is a little more appealing than TU. Or they can play a cupcake with no return game and sell out their stadium and make $2 or $3 million dollars. K-State has choices that Tulsa does not have.
The fact that they are not scheduling Tulsa is all the evidence you need.
Any Athletic Director is always limited in who he schedules. He cannot just say I want to schedule your school and it happens.
Where is the evidence that we have tried? Our AD made a comment before the Ohio St. game that they are talking with a B10 team about scheduling a series. If he was trying to schedule Kansas, K-State or Texas Tech, don't you think he would at least mention it?
All of the schools I mentioned recruit Tulsa hard. Wouldn't they want to play a school in Tulsa who they have a decent chance of beating to impress recruits? I mean thats why TCU, Texas Tech and Baylor play SMU, to beat a school in Dallas and invite recruits to watch.
I understand Athletic directors are limited, but being able to market your school and show value in your school to other AD's is your job.

They were talking about teams wanting to play TU one and done games. The AD's comments about the Big10 were not about scheduling a series, but another one and done game. Then they said
TU had signed a one and done game with ole Miss.
What could he say about Kansas, K-State, or Tech? I have tried to schedule a series with Kansas, Kansas State and Tech, but they turned us down. That would sound good wouldn't it.
As I mentioned before, they already play two more prestigious teams every year in Oklahoma. Playing a third team would not make much sense. Plus, as I also said, they obviously have better options. You cannot force them to play you.

Most of the schools in our league are pretty much the same when it comes to fan base and weather. There's a hardcore group, and then a fair weather group. Here at Memphis, it hurts us more because we play in a 60k stadium
