I'm probably way in the minority here and I'll preface by saying that I admittedly don't like the cheer to begin with but, shouldn't we put a sock in it when we're up by a certain amount of runs?
For my money, once you're up by say 10 runs, shelf the Hullaballoo and stop putting an exclamation point on each run.

Nice win by the Eagles today. I guess the TU fans who were all too anxious to jump to their feet and belt out that stupid Hullaballoo cheer when we were up by fifteen had to sit on their hands today and watch. Serves them right.
And before I hear it from my fellow TU fans, if our buddies up river were up on us by a bunch and we still had to listen to one of their many obnoxious cheers everytime they crossed the pay station, what kind of things do you think you'd be reading about them on the Tulane boards?
Sportsmanship is important, not only for the players but for our fans. Win with humility, lose with grace. Our players and our coaches are very sportsman like. Our fans, on the other hand, need a little work. When the game is in hand the fans should curtail their exhuberance when our team scores. To do otherwise makes us look like poor sports, doesn't exactly endear us to the opposing team's fans (who are top notch as far as USM goes), and only gives the opposing team fuel to fire up their game.
Congrats to the Eagles for playing a good game and for shutting up the Hullaballoo Krewe. I hope the lesson in humility was well learned, but I doubt it.

Just to clarify: The Hullabaloo is done to honor the play that resulted in a score. It is not disrespectful or "in your face," simply a congratulations to the player who made a nice play. There are no other qualifications ie. time left, score, etc..
Don't shoot the messenger.
PS: In the words of Jimbo in the sixth inning Sunday, "Where's all the Ray Ray's at?"

I'd never shoot you GM, even if I didn't like your message.
The whole "honor the play" thing is all well and good, but if you're a USM fan and your team is getting absolutely hammered, it might not come off that way.
I just think it would be good if we'd knock it off during a blow out. JMO.

I tend to agree more with GreenMenace. The cheer is more just for congratuating the team for a good play, not being "in your face" to the other team. If the other team's fans get annoyed, I guess it's too bad. Did they stop cheering when they beat our football team by 30 or 40 points? I doubt it. It's just part of the territory.
However, having said that, even though I like the cheer, it does get monotonous sometimes.
