Our next opponent is on ESPN 3 vs. Duke right now.

Yes, I agree. Flacco and other backups getting lots of playing time. That's what I want.

Okay fine. Score 7 touchdowns in the first half and then put the 3rd and 4th stringers in.04-rock

Heck with Flacco getting time. He's a gimmick player. Used for special circumstances. I want our next QB to get reps. Let's see Wassink if WMU is blowing them out.

Flacco can throw the ball... which is why I was surprised PJ didn't decoy him on the run to throw to Davis when he brought him in early in the game... Kind of weird...

I'm really not trying to be negative here. But what have you seen that makes you say Flacco can throw? He is 90% run when he is in there.

Watch his throw to Davis in the Bahamas bowl.

I had the pleasure of catching practice last Monday. Flacco's throws were things of beauty. I don't know about the gimmick thing.

Until I see it in a game consistently, I'm not going to be convinced. We shall see.

Yeah, I agree. He didn't have a bad passing game last year. I never saw anything indicating he couldn't pass. He can run, so as a backup/fill-in on a play or two, yeah, he's going to run more often than not. When he takes over in a blowout, he'll pass more.

RE: North Carolina Central
Truth it IS gimmicky when he comes in it is a keeper. We need to move on from that.

At NW Zack was wide open for the keeper 3 or 4 times before Flacco came in to run it. They put a spy on him and he had to cut back into the flow. Still made a few yards. But.....

I'd suggest they install like a 4 play sequence to fit his style, with options so the opponent can't just shut down the expected thing. Even go so far a make it a whole special group. Put in Eskridge and when he starts the keeper pitch it of to Eskridge on misdirection end around. Let the tight end play an option game for a little run or pitch thing like Lester was so good at. A little 4 play "special". Or bring him in together with Zack and do the old pitch back/streak thing. Flacco pitches back to Zack and Zack passes back to Flacco in the flat.

The offense brain trust could come up with a million of them I suspect.

Move on from the predictable.

Good analysis-suggestions, Ern.
