Welp, that's over...run plays look fairly similar to what we did last year...without a motion man...and a considerable lack of misdirection...passing is much improved.

Final: 54-0 GS

Working out the kinks on offense during this game

Defense looked pretty solid

On to those gulf coast kitty cats!

We ran a LOT of motion and misdirection in the scrimmage. Our OC used about 5% of the playbook today.

If I was OC I'd given the rest of the SBC 25-30 pass attempts to mull over the rest of the year to prepare for.

Not much can be taken from it other than we had a pulse. Of course that's better than Ga St and Ark St managed so it could have been worse?

Just home from the game and I like what we did on defense but we were so vanilla on offense I still can't figure out if we are ok there or not. A win is a win so I'll take it but I'm much more nervous about USA now than I was before the game.

No doubt, will be interesting to see how we stack up against USA.

I am more concerned now about USA than I was before, but I still have much more concern from WMU than USA. Not to take away from what USA did today. It's always good to get a win over an SEC team no matter where they are in their pecking order.

There's one takeaway from this game and it's that we're much better all-around in the passing game than this time last year. Savannah State wouldn't have been able to hide our terrible passing if it was like it was early last year.

We could surpass last year's number of passing touchdowns and passing yards by mid-season.

Loved what we saw from the defense. Considering we had 4 starters out, and a couple backups. Offensively, our WR play is the most improved play on the team. Some real playmakers there. Fields takes the next step this year. We did miss LA's power running today, though.

I thought on the way home that I didn't remember seeing him. Find out later that he had been suspended. We were definitely missing his presence inside. I know it was SSU but they were stacking everyone inside to stop our inside running. Could have used a battering ram to loosen that up

To me you guys' standard uniforms are some of the best in college football, but I even like the white helmet you guys wore last year for a few games.

Agreed.

I liked them for one time unis.

As for the game, as others have noted we used about 5% of our offensive playbook. We also were missing 7 guys (5 on the 2 deep) due to being held out after breaking team rules. Getting them back will bolster our defense even more. Having LA back too will be nice.

Our passing game looked better, there were a few times I thought a better secondary would have gotten to the passes that were thrown a bit late IMO. We will get better as our green TEs figure out who it is they are supposed to be blocking on most plays. I watched them confuse blocks a couple times on the edge.
