I mean he just got shifted... and sure its a big move between College and the NFL.. but between HS and College... not so much. He's playing as a frosh right now... and why not take a chance... I am guessing that he wasn't going to crack the OL anytime soon... so why not take a shot...

Debated whether to Red Shirt last year because he was so highly thought of coming into the program. Used that true freshman year to practice all year and this spring on the OL.

I'd think that the trigger to move him would have come sooner than game week. Unless as you wrote he wasn't going to crack the OL for PT and or the DL is really suspect (despite the long list previously made). We had 18 players on the roster in MBB in the 76-77 season but we collectively blew. Quality Donalds quantity.

Not concerned overall because you don't make "this" decision on the eve of opening day and expect impact. That must mean that the OL is pretty solid (Juriga, Novelselsky and Ikovits all previously mentioned by Fleck earlier this month and none were "Expected" to by significant contributors). Defense is suspect. Maybe a wide body who "might" require 2 blockers will free up a thin LB core to use speed and not worry about being manhandled.

Hoping it works out for Wesley and the Defense.
