RE: 2016 Wins vs. the Power 5
No wins in Week 11. Several games this week:

Louisville - Houston
Louisiana (ULL) - Georgia
UTSA - Texas A&M
Connecticut - Boston College
The Citadel - North Carolina
Western Carolina - South Carolina
Austin Peay - Kentucky
Chattanooga - Alabama
Alabama A&M - Auburn

I double-checked the list, but I may have missed one

Houston is the only team I really give any kind of chance (although the Citadel is 10-0 and beat S Carolina last year, FWIW), but Houston has fizzled since they lost to Navy and I don't see them beating Louisville. Before Navy this could have been a top 10 or even a top 5 matchup, but Houston ain't even ranked anymore...

So . . .

over the last 2 years, the American has won 18 games over P5 foes (including 4 ranked) while CUSA/MWC/MAC/SB have combined to win 19 games over P5 (2 ranked).

After the season can you list wins v. P5 teams without losing records.

Those are the ones that matter.

The others are just wins.

RE: 2016 Wins vs. the Power 5
Right now Houston has the top two wins. Just like when they were in C-USA though, they always lose one or two in conference to shoot themselves in the foot. Navy and Memphis are good teams, but not as good as Oklahoma and Louisville. No idea what happened with SMU.

So that's the second time you've posted this comparison vs other G5 conferences. You are also aware that the AAC has the second worst overall bowl record this year of any conference, right? Only the MAC has been more inept in it's bowl games than the AAC.

In my opinion, all wins over Power 5 teams are important, because the argument made is that being in a P5 conference automatically makes you better than anyone in the Group of 5 conferences. That's the purpose of this list. To show that every year, a sizable number of G5 schools can and do stand up to P5 schools and beat them, even without all the advantages they get. Also, as many of us have seen, you can only schedule the games you can schedule. It's not your fault that the team you agreed to play stinks this year.

However, I want ahead and pulled just the wins over P5 schools with winning records, since I said I would:

American
1. #15 Houston 33 - #3 Oklahoma 23
2. ECU 33 - NC State 30
3. Houston 36 - #5 Louisville 10

Conference USA
1. Southern Miss 44 - Kentucky 35

MAC
1. Western Michigan 22 - Northwestern 21
2. Central Michigan 30 - #22 Oklahoma State 27

Mountain West

Sun Belt
None

Independent
1. Army 21 - Wake Forest 13

Big Sky (FCS)
1. Eastern Washington 45 - Washington State 42

Missouri Valley Football Conference (FCS)
1. Illinois State 9 - Northwestern 7
2. North Dakota State 23 - Iowa 21

3 of the above P5 teams finished ranked, as well. Not bad.
