RE: Week 1 predictions - Northwestern
We had major untimely penalties and turnovers against OSU. But we ran the ball for 4 or 5 yards a pop.

RE: Week 1 predictions - Northwestern
We played MSU and OSU (away) relatively tough last year.

Now we're runaway favorites to win MAC - and can't beat Northwestern?!

That's not Elite.

.... except that if we win it would be listed amongst that best nonconference wins in school history. Beating an upper-half B10 team that had a great season prior, and is predicted to have another strong season, and doing it on the road. Toss in the fact that Northwestern is clearly the top ranked team on our schedule this year.

I'm just glad that, after so many years losing games we shouldn't have lost, to clearly inferior teams, and blowing nice leads in games because of ether poor preparation or in-game decision making, that we finally have gotten to the point with the program that even the old ball coaches have set a zero tolerance standard, even against good power five teams on the road!

I can just smell the tremendous excitement in the air . It's coming out of the pours of great loyal and enthusiastic alumni like Major.

Go Broncos!!!!

Northwestern may or may not be in Big Ten's "upper half."

They are picked to finish fourth in weaker of conference's two divisions.

MAC champions should be able to win such a matchup.

I can't believe how some of you are forgetting how dominant our three headed monster called a running game has been over the last two seasons. Did you all forget about the second half against Ohio last season? How about the final drive against Central that took 8 minutes of the clock and ended with Terrell taking a knee?

Sure, Northwestern is a traditional 3 yards and a cloud of dust Big 10 team. But as long as our backs stay healthy and Franklin learns again how to hold on to the ball I'm not to worried about the battle between each team's running game. The only concern I have is the fact that under coach Fleck we have not utilized the tight end too often and we could use a good tight end to compliment our running game especially on 3rd and 5 or longer situations.

Like a 7 or 8 headed monster. Follow Ernsberger to daylight.

It ain't the MAC champions playing Northwestern. It's the team that tied for fourth in the MAC West. I hope for good things this year, but it seems some believe if we don't go undefeated, or win even the games we are supposed to lose, it would be a disappointment, or that we would be underachieving. Needless to say, that is an unfair assessment.

No it really isn't. All this buildup, great recruiting and unprecedented resources has been in place for four years now. This has been targeted as "the year" for quite sometime.

No more fleckapologists.

RE: Week 1 predictions - Northwestern
That was last year's team, and as Fleck would tell you we were MAC WEST CHAMPIONS (see the rings).

This year we are runaway favorites to be MAC CHAMPIONS.

Northwestern isn't going to give us a $ guarantee that will pay for more than some Gymnastics equipment after expenses.

If we can't win games like this, stop scheduling them or get a coach that can.

No more "It'd be nice if we won but probably won't."

THIS!

Northwestern leads 38-31 late in the forth.

We drive all the way down to the 7 yard line and turn if over on downs.

Defence steps up and shuts them down for 4th and 7, from their 10, 1:39 left, clock running. They take delay of game penalty to make it 4th and 12 from their 5.

They snap the ball and run around in the endzone, safety given up with 0:15 left, cutting the Wildcats' lead to 38-33.

Wildcats kickoff to Phillips who runs it back 89 yards for a TOUCHDOWN!! Wait, there's a flag on the field......officials conference.....referee cues the mic, waving flag in the air, "there is no foul on the play for holding or block in the back, end of game".

Broncos win, Broncos win!! 38-39 is the final score. A small group of WMU fans in section 106 and all of section 135 erupt and storm the field. Team carries Fleck off the field. Oars are seen out the windows of multiple vehicles (simulated paddling) on east bound I-94 later in the day.

Headline reads Wildcats get Zipped by Broncos

Broncos win by one! BOOM!

Big Tenner Kirk Herbstreit picked us to win outright (not just cover) on ESPN GAME DAY this morning.

Why are so many Fleck Fanatics surprised we won?

Oh ye of little faith.

I'm not sure it's a surprise, even if you want to paint it like that. I'm not surprised they won, I never expected anything but a close game, but a prediction is nothing more than a guess. Some are wrong, some are right. I would venture to say that most of us that predicted a NW win are happy we were wrong.

I'm not surprised. Just happy. I mean. You're happy right?

^ You can read (and comprehend) - right?

Read game thread.

I'm always happy when Broncos win. Just not losing my mind because I expected us to and bigger things by end of season.

I'm kinda surprised, if referring to before the game. During the game, no, not surprised. Herbie and others choose a game every week where there's a potential upset, and it's been pretty popular. Only a 5pt spread. They're many times right it will be a close game and on the level of beating the spread -- but it was by no means close to a sure thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if we lost, even if we were 1pt favorites. I would have been surprised if we ran away with the game or they did. That's where the real surprise would come in.
