BTW, one team that will finish ahead of the preseason consensus is Texas State. Their problem is the guys with the head sets, not the guys with the helmets.

I will say this...if our passing game is as much of a train wreck this year as it was most of last year even Savannah State won't be able to cover it up.
We should be significantly better at wide receiver this year with the new additions, but it remains to be seen how the new passing scheme will work with our guys.
The good news is we led the country in rushing yards last year and our opponent defenses certainly made us work for them.
I predict that as a conference, we will have 44 conference wins.
On a serious note, I will predict that as a conference, we win 20 non-conference games.
What idiot preview site was it that picked us to go 8 games under .500 as a league in conference games last year?
I think they had several G5 leagues all having the same problem.
The most likely P5 team to lose to a SBC team would be Georgia Tech losing to Georgia Southern.
Miami could also lose their game at App State but it'll be close.
I think it'll be tight at the top of the conference standings this year, with possibly a tie between Arkansas State and App State for the conf. championship.

If we could win 2 of these 3(ULL,Troy, Ga State) we could make a bowl.
I think we could win vs Nichols, ULM, Idaho, New Mexico State. We will get off to a slow start but hopefully finish up strong.
That would indeed be a tall order. A lot depends on OB Davis' play as starter and defensive backfield, IMHO.

What about Auburn?
Auburn didn't have a QB last year. It was horrific under (behind?) center.
They lost some nice RBs, but reloaded fine. I think they got some WRs back.
I wouldn't be on them being that down again. Hope you guys pull it off.

Final standings:
1. Ark State (8-0)
T2. App State (7-1)
T2. GS (7-1)
4. Troy (6-2)
Everyone else
My sleeper team is Troy or the Cajuns
3 P5 upsets: App over Miami, GS over GT, and StAte over Auburn
Have to think that the Cajuns bounce back. If Troy doesn't get it going in the right direction this year, I'll be shocked.

Sleeper team, Troy, not saying they will contend for the SBC, but they could finish 4th and sneek into a bowl. As far as who wins it, its a dead heat between the 2 ASU teams, with GS taking it if they slip just alittle bit. As far as the write up, it seem fine to me, he seemed to put more effort and detail into it than most write-ups do. Of course, not surprised any publication that doesn't have Ark St at Number 1 is immediately condemned by the Ark State fans as garbage, after all, they have the greatest talent ever assembled.
Thanks for reading! I saw Miami play UC was not impressed with their skill players that day. App State can hang with them for sure.

They still have some questions at QB. Man, I wish Jacksonville State would have won that game.

App - 2-2 OOC, loses to GS to finish 2nd and goes bowling
GS - Goes 2-2 OOC, drops 2 conference games (A-State, ULL) to finish tied for 3rd and goes bowling.
ULL - 2-2 OOC with a close loss against Boise, drops 2 conference games (A-State, App) to finish tied for 3rd and goes bowling.
Troy - 2-2 OOC, 5-4 with losses to A-State, App, and GS to end in the top half of the conference
USA - 2-2 OOC (with a win over SDSU), mixed bag in conference 4-4 or 3-5 to finish middle of the pack.
GSU - 2-2 OOC (win over Ball), mixed bag in conference 4-4 or 3-5 to finish middle of the pack.
NMSU - Winless OOC, max 2 wins in conference in a cluster near the bottom
Idaho - 1-3 OOC, max 2 wins in conference in a cluster near the bottom
ULM - 1-3 OOC and steals a conference game or two to stay on par with last year, but not improving.
TxSt - 1-3 OOC, max 2 wins in conference in a cluster near the bottom
Really good breakdown! I have a bit higher hopes for Idaho though. The bottom is tough.
Yeah, I wouldn't be that far down on Idaho. You have us winning a max of 2 in conference. We won 3 last year, dropped StAte and Georgia Southern off our schedule, and return just about everyone who matters.
We had a horrible, depressing offseason, but almost none of it was related to players or coaches. The only bad player news of any consequence was our competent backup QB leaving the program. So if Linehan goes down, we have a problem, but I don't see why we couldn't at least do what we did last year.

They have the same two QB's plus a Juco QB that couldn't even win the starting job at Juco over a guy that had no scholarship offers.

I think it's possible for you guys to beat them if they come out playing like they did against Jacksonville State, But I just don't see it happening.
Based on the way both teams played in their Bowl Games, I see Auburn as having the edge over Arkansas State.
I hope you guys do win though, as it would be great for the conference.
GS is very tough for me to gauge. I've seen coaches come in and we didn't miss a beat, some seem ok the first season only to go down hill from there and one was absolutely terrible.

A lot will be Davis or the transfer qb from Marshall. I heard that Joey will not be rotating qbs this year like he did with Methany and Bridge. I'm worried about the center, lack of pash rush again because we lost 3 guys already for the season.. Not sure if DB was a major issue because of lack of pressure.

Davis was named he starting QB. Leash probably isn't too long. A lot lies on how he plays.

I've been afraid to predict ULM this year and still am. I would guess minimum 4 wins though. Got a bunch of transfers in and love this new coaching staff. I could be wrong and we go 1-11, but I just don't see it.
