If Houston beats OK like they did FSU in the Peach Bowl, I could see Houston jumping to 8 or 9 and OK falling to 11 or 12.

RE: Serious question for G5 fans
UH wins goes to #10, OU drops to #12. By week 7, OU has been undefeated since UH loss & has climbed back to #7 with UH at #9. UH then loses to #17 Memphis in wk #12 & drops out of top#25. Memphis & Cincy are then invited to the B12. Memphis goes on to win AAC championship finishing at #12 in final reg season AP poll & goes on to win access bowl over #7 Tennessee. UH gets back into final rankings @25 with bowl win & Memphis finishes as the #8 team in the nation.

It looks like I'm out of control and obviously I'm being sarcastic, but I'm cool as a cucumber. It's just bad enough hearing ESPN, contract conference schools officials and athletes and the rest of the media call us G5 but to have a poster on this board start a thread called "Serious question for G5 fans", makes me wanna

RE: Serious question for G5 fans
I thought it was pretty relevant considering the mountain ahead to get an AAC team into the playoff. Even though these aren't the official college football rankings they're the best benchmark we have to go off of, and me personally thinks that no matter the out come of the game, OU would stay ranked ahead of Houston, I see us being 8 and them being 7, best case

Not a g5 fan. I dont accept your labels
It is what it is, dude. At least Memphis is still one of the three or four schools that still has an actual shot at escaping the second class citizenship that the rest of us have all been relegated to. Good luck to you in getting one of those spots. Whatever happens, there's gonna be some very disappointed people on this board.
I'm ready for Big 12 expansion to happen already. We can then go to work making the best of whatever's left of the G5. It's a pretty safe bet that losing the strongest two, three, or four G5 programs to the P5 will not be a positive thing for the rest of us.

RE: Serious question for G5 fans
I think they'd jump OK yes. Houston to #8, Oklahoma to #11 sounds about right.
I don't think an undefeated Houston with wins over OK and Louisville would need any help at all to make the playoffs. I know people love a good conspiracy theory, but let's put forth a team with a resume that deserves it first before complaining. I think they'd get picked.
Undefeated isn't very likely though. Oklahoma, Louisville, and then 3 of their AAC road games are Navy, Cincy, Memphis... if they run that they deserve it.

Could happen, that's a very talented OU team.

It would be entertaining to see if UH got a bump in the polls if the Big12 announced the addition of them mid-season.

RE: Serious question for G5 fans
I believe that most people are of the opinion that the AAC is a tweener conference. I personally wouldn't classify them as G5 as they are far too different from the other G5 conferences however the member schools aren't funded like a true P5. That said, Houston, based on last season, has shown that they can generate enough interest to merit a playoff spot if they are to run the table. I believe that with a win over OU and some convincing wins, with no losses, throughout the regular season, they can break that barrier into the playoff and that will be aggravated by the fact that they are on the Big XII shortlist.

Well it certainly works the other way. Scouting services calling a kid a 4 star prospect... Signs with Houston and all the sudden is a 3 star prospect. Not fair

RE: Serious question for G5 fans
I think if any team ranked in the top 25 knocks off a top 5 team, that they would get a massive jump. Will it be enough to switch places.... I doubt it. They will use the whole "body of work" argument and say that the AAC schedule is easier and therefore Houston isnt deserving.
By end of year, I think Houston could be top 4 if they win out. They would need USF to beat FSU and be highly rated in order to secure it though.

Not going to be easy running the table in this league that's for sure. I still believe we finish the season at 10 - 2 and IF we go undefeated I agree, Houston should be playoff bound, hands down.
