Rice does not have an indoor facility. However, we do have permission to use the Texans facility (1.5 miles away) any afternoon necessary, as the pro team practices in the AM.

We have one in the master plan, construction starting TBA. Not the current WKU football stadium that someone so kindly linked.

Photo's of Marshall's is below. Based on the budget and design on the link I saw earlier, it looks like WKU's plan is very comparable.

I really think an IPF is truly dependent on the fall/winter climate where your school is located. For BG, KY...it will be very welcomed!!

Which is to say "We have one in our dreams." But, maybe someday!

RE: CUSA Indoor Facility, Who has them?
It's not really a fall/winter thing. What I see it mainly as is a spring/summer thing. Practicing in the cold is no big deal, practicing in torrential rains or the thunderstorms is something else. For example, we had a 5:00 practice scheduled yesterday. It started raining around one and poured, thundered and lighting for hours. A few years ago that would have resulted in a cancelled practice, now the boys just head inside.

The cold is a factor in this area for the baseball and softball teams (soccer and golf also) so more help to them if it's just cold. I don't think it's a coincidence that our soccer and baseball teams had good years last season, the IPF has helped tremendously.

No wonder. I remember a couple of seasons ago in late February, IIRC, when Tennessee wildflowers are starting to bloom and signs of spring are everywhere, driving up there, and soon as we hit the state line, the rainy highway turned into icy slick roads with a foot of snow on the ground. I thought I was driving through North Dakota. I'm glad we don't have to deal with the freezing weather and nasty white stuff anywhere near as often or in the quantities that you guys up north do.

Its also a recruiting tool. Kids are impressed by facilities. Glad ours finally came to fruition.

RE: CUSA Indoor Facility, Who has them?
I doubt that UTEP will ever want or need one. The fall camp in the mountains of NM saw some thunderstorms change practice times but it's almost always nice enough weather wise in EP to practice outdoors. UTEP has a nice practice field with the same artificial turf that the Sun Bowl has. Spring will see some wind and blowing sand now and then but not enough of a problem to build a large building for. A little grit in your teeth is good for you.

We have a very nice IAF to say the least. I doubt many teams at any level have one nicer than ours.

NFL scouts brag about it, schools like WVU envy it.

I used to think the same way you did, until I found out that Mark Richt did a lot of his work w/o an indoor practice facility and had been begging the UGa administration for years, didn't get it until after he was canned. Now that he's at Miami, an IPF is his main priority, and for once, the administration at Miami is behind him. If USM wants to change conferences, or continue to progress in C-USA, an IPF is going to have to be a priority.
