What is amazing was there was just enough land being locked in by streets to have 2 parking garages, a basketball arena, a football stadium, a indoor practice facility and a baseball stadium.

Agreed. WKU has been a basketball school for multiple generations, however football is gaining momentum on the hill. Hopefully, that will translate to needing additional seating in the not too distant future.

I hope so too, but just not sure the numbers are there. BG metro is only ~160,000. That means about 7 out of every 50 people in the metro area need to come to a game for it to be a sellout. That's an awfully high percentage of the population to try to get to a game.

It will be a major mistake to add seats till Western gets in the consistent 20-21k range. That would still leave 4000 seats counting the berm.

If you expand before the fanbase grows it will hurt season ticket sales and if you want to keep a person connected to the program...donation/season ticket is the way to do that. It gives a feeling of (for the lack of a better word) ownership, or maybe inclusion is even better.

If a person knows they will get a great seat on game day...probably cheaper. They will wait. I believe Western can get there but it will take consistent winning 8+ games with a 10 to 12 win season mixed in 30+% of the time

The only downside (not that there is one) this will block the view of the Houch (football stadium) from that direction...

some money wasted on expensive brick and even more expensive glass. I will be surprised if the finial product doesn't have more brick on the side facing Ave of champions instead of all the gray. Brick fits more into the surroundings

I'm not an architect or engineer, but my first thought was how expensive all that glass and chrome must be. I agree that more brick would look just as good and cost much less to.

You know that people that living outside of BG metro and can also go to games. WKU has large alumni bases in Louisville and Nashville it can also draw from (I'm one of them).

I go to games from Lexington and I know for a fact at least 20 others from Lexington too come down for the games, so that should count for something haha....

RE: WKU announces 22 Million Dollar Indoor Football/Sports Complex!!
At one time (basketball) there was always a line of cars bumper to bumper heading out of town after a game was over....

took forever to get out L'ville Rd because of fans heading back to Cave City, ParkCity and Glasgow. Same thing if you were going out Morgantown Rd and the same heading out Scottsville Rd...

hundreds of people going home to Ohio Co, Butler Co, Allen Co and all points in between

We need to tap back into those people.

The hard part is most everyone under 45 today has been en-gained with espn telling them only the p5 schools really play sports. Western always had to over come the uk affect but till the early to mid 90s we didn't have the espn brainwashing.

I still see a good increase in cars as I head home to Owensboro, on football game day...so there are still fans in Ohio Co, Daviess Co and Butler Co. Western has a aging fanbase and in a state that competes or produces NCAA championships in basketball what seems like every year...

so unlike most of our conference members ...it's a huge difference trying to turn those fans into fans that want to support Western. Sure most everyone is fighting the big state schools for fan support....they are not fighting nation championship programs. Other than Charlotte.

Winning consistently will eventually help get some of those fans . But it needs to be in basketball and football and it has to be nationally every couple years in at least one of the programs.
