They are an in state FBS school so that's just how it goes (and how it should be.) I hope we determine future scheduling vs them on ticket sales and not just general interest though. We need our OOC games to help our attendance.
I hope that is a long way away...decades. I remember well going there in the 70s. I watched one of our punts almost sail backwards in the wind. They have a very good HFA in Boone simply due to the weather. I have no problem playing them in Charlotte occasionally. Im looking at a 5 1/2 hour drive to Boone.
Football is played outdoors, sometimes there is wind :)
The location of that stadium seems to funnel the wind through a mountain pass and straight down the field. It can be a gale at times. It is a nice stadium. I went last year to see a concert there. They have done some good upgrades on it.
There's a few reasons that someone could maybe provide to say why ECU shouldn't play at App and I would listen to but wind and a person 5.5 hour drive don't fall into that category. ECU and App will ink a deal that will include ECU coming to Boone sooner or later. Wouldn't be shocked if you guys did wait to come up until after we expand a little bit.
As far as the AAC goes, well, that'd be nice and is hopefully a goal of ours. Football-wise I do believe we are a good fit and could already be competitive in the league. Basketball we have a lot of work to do but most of us believe we have the right coach to do the job and are trending in the right direction. Baseball was doing well, on the verge of a super regional and then lost Coach Pollard to Duke in the 2012 off season. The following 4 years were awful but we just made a new hire, Kermit Smtih, and I think he has the mentality to get us back to a solid program. Boone definitely doesn't fit the mold of the other cities in the AAC obviously but that isn't huge deal necessarily, i.e. Greenville. Haven't researched it but I would guess we're a smaller school currently than most, if not al, the AAC with about 20k students. So like I said there is work to be done but on the football field I believe we'd definitely be competitive.
Why do you think your football team is r3ady after only two years in FBS?

Tune into an Appalchian game and you'll be able to see why. And I know the common quip is "oh you play in the SBC wins are easy to come by" and there's some truth to it of course but 11 wins don't just come out of thin air, especially a bowl victory. Do i think we would win the AAC? No. Do I think we would be competitive with the likes of SMU, Tulane, ECU, etc. right away? Yes.

Sad thing about it is that the video is only about a decade old. That's just how backwards Appalachia is apparently. They're usually about 3 decades behind the times I guess, not that that video would be cool even if it was done in the 70s.
Whats best is that App is receiving votes in preseason polls and i've seen ECU has low as #109.
Should really take into account the position you find yourself in before attempting to degrade someone else.
FWIW App beat Michigan two years after this movie was released.

College Athletics works based on ROI, mostly for TV now. Losing programs can still maintain viewership is the sheer volume of the fan base and surrounding market is large enough. A sad reality that we are faced with I suppose.

This is my primary reason for following ECU has a student alone and not truly as a fan. A large portion of the "Purple Nation" would fall into that uppity category.
Regardless, my post wasn't meant to be a rebuttal to your point, merely an addition.

Dude anyone who wanted to pitch them could, that doesn't mean you're actually worthy of the invite or even being considered. Arkansas State also got to pitch Big12, congrats! Your TV market puts you in what conversation? You don't carry the Chicago market, even at a marginal rate. We both know that is ND's market and Northwestern's after that. Hell, App is a part of the Charlotte TV market. If you're trying to sell that NIU can carry Chicago then I can use that same logic to say App can carry Charlotte. Neither are true. But good try.

Hell, App is a part of the Charlotte TV market. If you're trying to sell that NIU can carry Chicago then I can use that same logic to say App can carry Charlotte. Neither are true. But good try.
Is App in Charlotte's DMA? THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BUDDY

Well since you asked....yes we are. you seem a little angry fella, it's only CFB just relax. Keep "dominating" that league that BGSU has won 2 out of the past 3 years and maybe good things will happen to you.
Since you asked, yes they are in Charlotte's DMA. They're in Watauga County. If we're forced to dumpster dive I'd rather have App than NIU. At least they wouldn't be on an island and have a fanbase. You look pathetic with your grovelling on this board. Nobody here has any say in realignment so wtf do you post here?
