Hopefully your football program will finally have some resemblance of a pulse when we face off in 2017... probably not but one can hope.

Trust me, I am in BR often and have been to MANY college campuses. App State's campus is nowhere NEAR the prettiest. In fact, it is one of the blandest I have seen. Most people are talking about the surrounding mountains if they compliment App, not the campus itself. It blends in with fast food places and strip shopping centers along Hwy. 321/BR Road. Buildings are way too tight on the campus, with not nearly enough green space ON CAMPUS. Not pretty, at all.

Boone is a college town. I went to ECU and Greenville is what I would define as dumpy. Appalachian State simply fits in with it's surrounding and in my opinion, takes on the character of the area as being minimalist in a way. One thing you are trying to do that you really shouldn't is separate the campus from the surrounding area. The mountains is what makes Boone and the surrounding areas as spectacular as they are.

Greenville is not dumpy. There are parts that are dumpy (just like every other town). It's a college town with actually a ton of development going on now around campus and the downtown area.

You may want to come back and visit when you're not in Boone.

I am actually in High Point. Regardless, the dumpiest parts of Greenville and the surrounding areas are far more dumpy than Boone. I still receive crime alerts from campus notifications and things really haven't changed a whole lot.

I live 20 minutes from Boone. And while I love and appreciate the beauty of the NC mountains, App's campus itself and Boone proper isn't all that "beautiful". Both Boone and App's campus is effectively landlocked and haphazardly patchworked into the landscape. It's really only when you get out of town that the beauty of the area reveals itself. If you truly believe App's campus rivals the best in our State, including ECU, you really need to get out more.

What exactly is dumpy to you? Crime alerts? There are crime alerts for every town and Greenville is no different from any other town of similar size and demographics.

You don't know what you're talking about. You sound like a hater App fan who is jealous of ECU.

Actually the school itself is kind of crappy looking and the actual town of Boone is pretty dumpy as well. Now, some areas around Boone are nice (Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, etc.) and there are lots of good hiking trails not far away, but like I said App State and Boone proper......not too good.

I call BS. I went to ECU so I'm surely no fan of Appy but their campus is beautiful. The town of Boone is cool and the mountains around are awesome. I'm sure it is a cool place to go to school and to watch a football game.

It's a college town which I think is cool and totally better than an urban environment like Charlotte.

Yes maybe...OFF CAMPUS.........which was my original point. Thanks for agreeing.

Meh you'll be in the MAC for the foreseeable future. And the MAC is no better than CUSA.
Except it is. But i don't need to argue since it's irrelevant. A better conference is in our future

Hey maybe you can take our spot in the MAC and graduate from the SBC! That's a win for us both

Pretty sure as a conference the Sun Belt was 3-2 with (big) wins over BGSU, WMU and a tight game over Ohio. Losses to Toledo (Arkansas State without Knighten) and Akron (No one knows what happened to ULL).

By the La Tech fan's logic, App beat Georgia Southern pretty badly, Georgia Southern dominated both BGSU and WMU, therefor App is, by virtue of the transitive property of football, the MAC Champion.

Nothing transitive about CUSA being 9-1 versus the Sunbelt since App,GSU,ODU,Charlotte joined. That's a .89 winning% for CUSA head to head against the Sunbelt.

Maybe you meant GS

Jealous of what exactly? Keep going down 5th street, Dickinson, Greenville Blvd, 10th street....blah blah. I lived in Greenville for two years. Pretty sure I know what I'm talking about.

I only sat on my porch in Pirates Place and hear gun shots on three or four different occasions.

App beat GS so the transitive property extends beyond the head to heads. COOSA logic.

I didn't say that App has the most beautiful campus in the state. I was trying to make a point that it isn't as bad as the poster from Charlotte seems to think it is. It is about as generic as it can possibly get however you can't separate the surrounding mountains from the atmosphere of the campus. Sure, it takes all of 6 minutes to get from Wendey's to the parkway, but when talking about beautiful places within proximity, it doesn't get much better.

When discussing Charlotte, you have great examples of consumerism and capitalism at work. When in Greenville you have nothing but farmland for 60 miles in any direction.

Regardless, it's more a matter of personal preference than anything else.

Eric you cannot count part of the city as campus the campus is the campus. ECU has a beautiful campus from the old dorms through the green space cupola to the auditorium. Also Greenville has changed a lot maybe you should visit and see that difference. 2 years is also not a long time to live somewhere fyi
