RE: Traveling to Memphis Game Need Advice
I have never once in my life heard anyone to stay away from streets named for Presidents.
I have heard the state names ones, but really, there's nothing to DO on those streets anyway.

This is accurate ^^
Really, it's a cute/funny thing to say, but it's really not true. Not since gentrification started about 10 years ago.

The only people that still say this in Memphis are the ones that haven't been downtown since the 80's
I'm downtown right now. And I was 7 in 1990.
Then that makes your statement even dumber. You basically told someone to stay away from Adams, Jefferson, Maddison, and Monroe.
Hope they don't want to go to rough and tumble places like Felicia Suzanne's or flight.
To be completely transparent, the reason I posted the "states and presidents" statement was because Seabee Tiger Fan and I have been friends since high school, its a saying we always heard people say about "going to Memphis" as we grew up in one of the outer suburbs. It always made us laugh because we would attend almost every Tiger athletic event in downtown Memphis, so that was the reason for him saying "heard that before" and yes, I could've explained that earlier, but things just aren't funny if you have to explain them to everyone. I work downtown and spend quite a bit of time here, so if anyone is offended by my comment about streets named after presidents then I apologize. Good grief.

Inside jokes don't always translate, especially in public forums where someone not familiar with the city is asking advice. Someone casually skimming his thread not familiar with the city may take your post literally.
All good.

I would add Uncle Lou's Fried Chicken to the endless list of great eating spots. I would also recommend knocking back a few Ghost River Golden Ales.

My two cents on restaurants?
Miss Girlee's on the corner of Chelsea and Thomas/Danny Thomas.
Four Way Restaurant on Mississippi.
Alcenia's on Main St just north of Convention Center.
Those are soul food spots.
Deja Vu on Main near Monroe. That is creole and they have a vegan menu as well.

Can't beat a good ole Topp's cheeseburger either... the one over in the Medical district across from Methodist hospital is the best.

Ahhh, "I'l take a #8, mustard and lettuce, extra seasoning, double fry, and I'll make my drink when I get there."
Always best to call ahead on the burger orders...

If you have contacts with someone working there you can get them to make you a Topps cheeseburger and add BBQ sauce and slaw on the bottom bun.

I saw a bluegrass band there that looked like they'd seen a thing or two. I was ready to break my San Pelligrino bottle and use it as a weapon if **** got real.
From the way yall described it I was thinking some rough C&W roadhouse and thinking I'd check it out next time I'm in town.
Then I googled Tamp and Tap and saw the gourmet coffee thing. Lol. Oh well.

He did break a bottle of San Pellegrino. Not enough bubbles I assume. Maybe they forgot the lime.
