I work on the Memphis campus fairly regularly, and try to wear AState gear whenever I can on those days. (As I do on any college campus) I much prefer the nasty looks and unsavory comments. It lets me be known that people are thinking of us. That's a good thing.

1. We don't use tax payers dollars for our Athletic program. That stopped long ago.

2. As for pretending to be big time, is that something like claiming to be a major college football program because someone thought you guys were good in the 60's?

True, and they've moved into West Memphis with their absorption of Mid South Community College. I hope that leads to support, research, and innovation and economic mobility in East Arkansas (which seems on a surface level to be neglected by the state over there). That would only help sustain and grow the Memphis and Delta regions. Because of state borders, our region requires support from all three states to prosper. Historically it seems to have been that Ark and MS neglected those areas expecting Memphis to bring up those regions, even with TN's gradual steady neglect of its own. Hopefully all three are changing in that regard. Support for innovation and economic mobility programs will be the engines for it.

We trash Arkansas because they've tried multiple times to kill our football program.

Shots at Outside media happened years ago, and mostly stopped under the new administration. The only exception is an issue with the local newspaper when they wrote a scathing editorial recently that Arkansas State "needed to know its place" and drop several of our major projects and focus on being a commuter school like we used to be. But that's a special case

We've won 4 conference titles in 5 years and won 44 games in that time frame. There are no low self esteem issues anywhere around here.
