Very similar to the one recently completed at ASU. Ours has brick over the entire outside instead of the columns. We replaced and ancient one like you guys are doing. We still have the erector set look on the other side but it is obscured by pine trees.

Congrats! Got to keep moving forward.

How many suites does yours have and what was the cost?
22 suites plus loge boxes and club seats. 40k square feet. I believe it was $25m. The IPF was $15m I think and our new football complex and seating is supposed to be $22m.

Gotta spend it to keep up.

You're right about that. You guys have done a nice job there at Arkansas State.

The La Tech fee was voted in by the students as a STUDENT FACILITY ENHANCEMENT FEE, has nothing to do with sports. It was designed to bring in funds to enhance facilities throughout the campus, INCLUDING SPORTS VENUES, thus Tech was able to use that as a bonding source to build out your south end zone. It IS NOT a student ATHLETIC fee. Huge difference.

It provides for facilities. How is this a "huge difference?" It is not, as it is descriptive of its purpose. Man, you just want to unjustly and unfairly criticize Tech. Why? It makes no sense. According to you, you are a grad of a Mississippi school and a citizen of Mississippi. Why do you even have an opinion? Even if you do reside in La. you do not seem to have an interest in Tech Tech, i.e., do not attend or have dependents that attend Tech, other that to criticize. Why don't you complain about how our state and country foolishly spends our money on ineffective and inefficient programs that benefit no one?

Most schools use student athletic fees as a means to support their annual OPERATING budget, same as if they were ticket sales. Tech uses the student FACILITY enhancemet fee for construction, maintenance, and improvements, huge difference. Cant figure out why you consider this as unfair criticism when it is nothing other than explaining the situation nor can I understand why the Tech fans and administration wont give the students their proper credit, they pay for all of some projects and over half of the end zone addition.

I know the difference between athletic fees and facility fees. That is the point. The Tech students voted for a facility fee and that is what they pay. I don't understand your argument. The fee pays for exactly what it says it will pay for. You are just looking for a reason to criticize Tech. My question is why. Why do you care? How does it affect you?

I am not arguing anything. I am not for or against student athletic fees or student facility enhancement fees or anything of the like. I am FOR bringing it into the sunshine so everyone understands what is or what part it plays in a program. Your students should be commended for their agreeing to pay out over $14,000,000 in the next 22 years to pay for the new south end zone facility completed a couple of years ago. Rather than recognizing and commending them it seems the Tech folks want to keep that hidden and under wraps. Whats the beef with letting the public know? By the way, has anyone estimated the amount they will be pitching in for the new press box or is that still under wraps?

It IS out in the open. The students VOTED on the fee. Another poster told you the students had been recognized. What is your beef? It makes no sense.

So, just trying to understand the issue here: what was on the ballot that the students voted for? Was it specifically for the EZ project? Or athletics in general? Or just academics? Or not specified? How long is in effect for? Thanks!

Its just an overall facilities fee. Funds go toward student facilites, parking, etc. We all know that part of if went toward the DAC, to help fund it alongside the donations. Not sure why its been brought up since the press box isnt going to use money from this fee.

IIRC, around 2010 students voted to implement a 40$ facilities enhancement fee. At the time it was mainly for a new Natatorium and IM renovations. It was not limited to just those. In 2014 it was voted on for renewal +10$ and again passed. There wasn't any special language. Students knew what it was for and it passed by a large margin. I'm not sure how long it is in effect.

Y'all tried to pass a similar facilities fee/assessment a couple of years ago, and your students rejected it.

Foundation work has already started for the new press box & suites. I really like how quickly we have moved with this project. Our new President is really making things happen and it won't be long before our enrollment reaches 15k.

Chuck, a heads up that Shonuff the "ULM fan" is actually LaCajunFan and/or VermillionWhite and/or geauxpnc that at one time frequented BBB. He has been banned from CUSA and SBC boards so has assumed another identity so he can post. Typical of an @ Lafayetter to play a name game. The guy is obsessed. Just an FYI

Gotta love the leadership in the University right now. Trying really hard to get things done. His years at Tech will probably be looked back on as a great time of growth. Theres TONS of projects happening simultaneously around campus. Love that he makes updates of facebook just about every week.

Thanks, Bill. Not sure how you found this out, snoop-stodgy-dog, but that certainly sheds a different light on the subject. I'm convinced we have at least a couple of people showing as "TECH FANS" on here who are anything but. Their goal is to insult, provoke and otherwise incite fans of other schools, conferences, and boards...while making our University look bad. I'm keeping an eye on one in particular.

WHAAAAT???? Don't know how or why Bill is making this accusation, but you hit the nail on the head: he needs to answer your question and tell us exactly what evidence that has brought him to make this wild and baseless accusation. I personally think he needs to readjust his tin-foil hat.
Or maybe he's just pissy because he keeps making insulting and idiotic posts on the SBC boards that the mods have to delete and edit and issue him multiple warnings on proper board etiquette? So he's taking his anger for that out on me. That's the only two explanations I can think of that who'd explain his behavior.

It didn't take any snooping. I wouldn't know how as I am computer challenged. However, I do recognize writing styles. I have never had anyone with a personal vendetta against me in all my years. This guy does because he read things I wrote he doesn't agree with. On a sports message board, for goodness sakes. The guy will call me a liar, but it is so obvious this poster is one and the same.

I'm not angry with anyone. It is you that was banned and assumed a different identity. Besides, what are you doing on the CUSA board? You were recently admonishing Tech posters on the SBC board.

Bingo. A school's president is either all in as it relates to athletics, working against it, or letting it drift which today is just about as bad as the former. I'm getting kicked around for pointing out that all the sunshine pumping by one member fanbase is meaningless as long there's a cancer occupying the school's highest office.
