What news out of UCs camp are you talking about?

and tubbs in a different interview said the defense is way ahead of the offense and they have owned most of camp...it was said in a positive way, but i remember your defense last year and if they are ownig camp, id be worried

You are over analyzing one article from one practice, jeez. The defense is ahead of the offense, which is typically the case when you get everyone back on D, and are replacing 2 starting O lineman and the entire receiving corps. I will reserve judgement until at least the first two games of the season are played. Not worried in the least. You should be writing columns for the NY Post or Daily News with that level of sensationalism.

here is a report from 4 hours ago, from your scrimmage ..defense shutdown the offense again but tubbs notes the top 2rbs didn't play ..says less drops than he saw in practice but way more overthrows and turnovers
http://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/c.../88677720/

they only scored after they started having drives from their own 15..
but it's camp, you won't know anything until the real season starts, maybe your defense did become great and had something click

You also realize that the 2 starting RBs were in no tackle mode for the scrimmage right? You also realize we have a new O coordinator installing a new offense right? You think maybe installing a new offense may have something to do with the D being ahead?

I was there. Defense played well. I could go into detail about crisp tackling and creating turnovers, but it would have zero effect on the narrow prism such is your point of view. We are going to be very good on the backend of the defense. The offense has certainly not gelled. A large part of this is the integration of two olineman and touch football on our two biggest difference makers, Boone and Greene. In addition, since we are playing 3 qbs currently, there is no rhythm among the qbs and receivers. The offense will get better.

RE: AAC Football Offseason videos, fall camp, practice reports
Tigers have successful scrimmage
Quote:The stage was set, the bleachers were filled up, and Tiger fans from Jackson, Tennessee and beyond were ready to catch a last glimpse of Tiger football before the home opener on September 3rd.

Boom! Right from the start, there was excitement in the air with redshirt freshman Tony Pollard taking one to the house on the opening kickoff. The crowd got on their feet at Trinity Christian Academy and cheered loud, hoping to maybe see that beautiful return for a touchdown again in a real game, something the football team hasn’t done since November 9th, 1996.

On the first offensive drive, Riley Ferguson and company drove their way down the field, ultimately failing to convert on fourth down. The next drive saw the defense continue to impress as defensive back Dontrell Nelson picked off Ferguson, leaping over wide receiver Daniel Hurd to make the incredible play.

Drive after drive, there was always someone making a great play whether on offense or defense. Even the second and third string players made big time plays all scrimmage long. Freshman running back Darrell Henderson showed off his speed immediately upon entering the game, catching a screen pass and running 86 yards in for the score.

Henderson was one of many freshmen who impressed on Saturday. Freshman quarterback David Moore threw a beauty to fellow freshman and local product Hunter Hill for an 11-yard touchdown. Moore would later scramble for a 6-yard touchdown, wrapping up a solid performance on the day. Norvell commented on his performance after the game, calling it “very, very impressive.”

Another impressive freshman was running back Patrick Taylor Jr.,who at 6-foot-3 and 216 pounds, does not look like he just graduated from high school. The Humble, Texas native was all over the field, never running out of gas. He would finish with about 74 all-purpose yards and a touchdown on the day.

The so-called “veterans” on the roster also put up commendable performances on Saturday morning. Senior defensive end Demarco Montgomery blocked a field goal attempt by Spencer Smith, ending the play with a massive Tiger Woods-esque fist pump. Montgomery, along with the rest of the experienced front seven, broke through the offensive line often, making the quarterback’s life very difficult.

The defense would finish with an interception, a safety, and several sacks on the day.

Overall, it was a great scrimmage for both sides of the ball, one that will certainly give Coach Norvell a good sense of what he has in his first team at the University of Memphis.

The anticipation is steadily rising, season ticket sales are rapidly increasing, and Big 12 expansion talks are still dragging on. No one knows which schools, if any, will be added to the Big 12; it remains a mystery. But there’s one thing for sure; come September 3rd, Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium will be rockin’.

All seems ok at the Tulsa camp...but I didn't realize girls played on Tulsa's football team. That explains a lot right there...

This reminds me of middle school when kids are mean to someone they have a little crush on because they can't express their real feelings. You don't have to hide your love from us anymore BC1. It's ok.

Tulane has a horrible coaching staff and no talent to speak of. They will pose no threat at all to any other team in the AAC.

From ECUPirates.com: The Pirates' total offense yardage was most compiled in an ECU fall scrimmage in the last 13 years (when scrimmage stats started being officially recorded), surpassing a 684-yard effort on Aug. 22, 2008 during the Skip Holtz era (also had six TDs that day).

Nelson engineered two scoring drives completing 11-of-17 passes for 194 yards, while Minshew (15-of-22, 196 yards, TD) and 0Herring (7-of-8, 175 yards, 3 TDs) combined for four additional scores. In all, the Pirates completed 34-of-50 passes for 576 yards, six touchdowns and had one pass intercepted. Nelson connected with Jimmy Williams on a 26-yard strike for the scrimmage's first score and then found Quay Johnson running a cross over the middle that turned into a 65-yard touchdown.

thats not a good sign, when every qb on your roster looks like manning, 2 never had a college snap, the likely scenario is your secondary is bad..
these are the kind of stats you don't want to hear from in fall camp

crazy stats from camp only look good if its 1 player ..qb1 threw for 300yds on 25 passes 4tds, qb #2 had 100yd and 2 picks..qb #1 might be a beast..

Meh, the previous record it beat for total yardage was the 08 team which won a conference title and was ranked at one point #15 in the country.

Defense also had a pick 6 today. But thanks for your input.

Also 6 guys from the 2 deep in the front 7 sat out the scrimmage. Not concerning myself with anything that happens in one of these. No one knows what group was going against what group and what they were really focusing on. I'd say the same if all the QB's threw for a combined 8 ints it wouldn't necessarily mean our QB's were awful or that our defense was all world.

Good interview with Rhule, not too long just over 8 minutes. Talks about the team but also at about the 5 minute mark starts talking about the importance of academics at Temple. All 25 of the seniors (some with eligibility left) on this year’s roster will graduate in May, all 26 seniors on last year’s roster graduated.
