UT men's and women's cross country 2016
The teams have identical schedules (unless I missed something again), so I think one thread works for cross country.

Seasons begin for the women and the men on September 2nd at the Toledo Opener, which is being run in Oregon (the town, not the state). 03-wink

That appears to be the only home event for the squads. Conference championships held at Kent State this season.

New Rocket, from the UTXCTF instagram

Quote:We're excited to welcome Alberto Chelimo to the Rocket family! Alberto comes to Toledo from the Rift Valley in Kenya via Shorter University. In his short running career he's already shown strong talent with quality cross country performances and a 9:08 steeple PR. Alberto is the younger brother of US 5,000m Olympian Paul Chelimo who was coached to 5 All America honors and two NCAA runner up finishes by Coach Nguyen. Alberto should make an immediate impact on the men's program. #UTXC

Hope this works out better than our first Kenyan. Back in the 70s John Flaminio recruited a Kenyan hurdler who was their national champion or something. As I recall, he paid for the guy's flight here in violation of NCAA regs and when the guy arrived it was the cousin of the guy Flaminio thought he was getting. I believe that is the sole blemish on the Rocket's NCAA record.

That's funny. Sounds like he wasn't practiced enough in how to cheat....

BTW - looks like his brother took the silver, then didn't , then did.

Short little story from the Akron Beacon Journal on UT runner Marissa Rossetti, mixed in with tidbits on other athletes.

She wins both events at the MAC with those times. Great signing.

I missed the age. I think elegibility must be completed by 25 but I'll check.

Anyone notice who finished twelfth? If that's accurate it's an amazing story-I had no idea she was running.

In men's cross country, Alberto Chelimo finishes first in the Mel Brodt Invitational at BG. For the women, UT placed 10 in the top 15. Apparently team scores weren't kept.
