Wow.
If the head coach at UConn thinks it's ridiculous to travel 2,000 miles, tell me why a school like Texas or Oklahoma would ever want to come to Connecticut.
This guy has destroyed UConn's chances to ever join the Big 12.
All he had to do was keep his big mouth shut. Instead, he gives the perfect reasons why the Big 12 shouldn't invite UConn.
There is no other way to spin this.

I mean, he's not wrong... the way conferences are set up now is stupid, the MAC (whipping boy that it is) has the right idea keeping everything geographically tight

It is funny though how some people criticize a University in Austin or Norman for wanting to play a University in Houston... and hype up these remote candidates.
These kids at all these schools grew up playing each other.
RE: Diaco thinks Big 12 Expansion to Northeast is Ridiculous
Diaco is absolutely right. You develop rivals when you can drive a few hours and attend a game at an opponent's stadium and when you can go to work and argue with fans of your opponents.
Rivaries build fan bases. They are one of the key components of college football.
That coach is going to make UConn fans very happy.

Wow if this doesn't hurt uconns chances i don't know what does.
RE: Diaco thinks Big 12 Expansion to Northeast is Ridiculous
Of course, Diaco is right. But the ship of unified Eastern football sailed many years ago. Eastern football has already been partitioned in many silly ways.

True,he'll probably win a few games, make some UConn fans happy. Then he'll leave for a P5 school for more money. They all do.
Meanwhile, UConn will be stuck pretty much forever as a midmajors and those same fans can thank, in no small part, Diaco and his big mouth.
Since he's fond of hypothetical, hypothetically if spot #4 is between Memphis State and UConn, are what do you think Memphis will hammer over and over? Geography. Using Blabbing Disco's own words.
This is a nightmare PR scenario for UConn at this critical point in time. Watch for the inevitable "I was misquoted" crap. His words mean something. And to the Big 12 he all but laughed at the conference if they chose UConn.
While UConn presently travels to Texas to play SMU and Houston, last I looked Texas, Baylor, TTech don't. And he mocked them if they chose to. He just likes the bear.

Actually it's alive and well minus WVU. The ACC harbors most "eastern football" with the exception of Penn State and Rutgers. UConn football wasn't even a concept in the days of the Eastern Independents anyway.

Bitterness intensifies. :-(
I wish you guys were in too.
That said the Civil Conflict trophy/rivalry thing makes a lot more sense after watching Diaco in that video. I've never seen him speak before, just caught bits and pieces of his jackassery in the press. He's legit bonkers.
RE: Diaco thinks Big 12 Expansion to Northeast is Ridiculous
Someone sarcastically asked the other day "What is the Big 12 added Dartmouth?".
I almost spit my coffee out whenever I Googled it and realized that Hanover, NH is technically west of Storrs, CT. Perhaps Dartmouth should throw their name in the hat.

He might already be aware that the Big XII is no longer considering UConn or is aware that there's something more promising from the ACC in the works. That's all I can think of in terms of spin.
