All I will say is Marshall has the #1 Forensic Science program in the country for the 7th year in a row.
We also have the ONLY accredited Digital Forensic Science program in the WORLD.
I know we are not a top academic school, but this is pretty impressive for a school that is constantly getting bashed for academics.

I would tend to agree. In fact, I think there is little interest in going west for the Big12. If the BYU wasn't such a clear leader over all the other candidates, they would never even consider going west when so much of the population is in the east. Keep in mind, one of the Big12's major goals is to increase the population in the B12 footprint. You do that by moving east---not by moving west. BYU, with its large national faith based fandom, is very much the exception to that rule.
If the goal is to increase footprint, the fla twins are the answer

I'm not a CSU fan, never been to a game, never even seen their campus. But here's a few items that may attract them to the Big 12. Colorado is king, no question both athletically and academically. However, CSU does have good academics. The Big 12 doesn't have a presence in Colorado and that is what CSU can bring. They are located just north of Denver and that is a HUGE market. Besides Market and Academics, they are also a geographical fit. CSU may not deliver the Denver market, but the Longhorn Network and/or the Big 12 network will be on the cable guides. Texas Tech can recruit a player in Denver and tell them to look at the Big 12 Network on this date and time and check us out.
Granted, CSU is not Houston or Cincinnati, but there is value. I'm not saying it's top 4 value, but there is some.
There are some serious problems with giving the Denver market to csu. Csu is something like 70 miles from Denver. It doesn't have an astronomical enrollment, doesn't have a rich football tradition, doesn't have a great average attendance, and I'm going to out on a limb and guess their ratings are great either.
It's not a travel partner for anyone in the league (BYU an 8 hour drive & Kansas state the closest current member also 8 hour drive). Let's face it, this already road trip or plane flight league anyhow. So if they're not a travel partner for anyone, what is the appeal?
CSU is really nice. Ft collins is s great college town and i can see them picking up the denver market. If you ever get a chance to visit you would be sold.

I believe you. Colorado is gorgeous and I haven't heard anything but good things about Fort Collins, but would I put csu in front of any of the AAC schools? No way. Except maybe uconn, because like you put it, I don't see a bunch of Midwestern folks that excited to fly to Hartford in November or even the end of October.

Chuck Landon is a douche and does all he can to drag our name through the mud. We all hate him.
He is not allowed to come to practices or anything anymore. He has literally been banned from Marshall University.
I actually hate you for tricking me into clicking that link lol. That's the first time I have given him a click in well over a year. I haven't bought a HD in almost 2 years because they continue to employ him.

RE: Academics Matter In Realignment--From the USA Network Of Newspapers
Once our new science building is completed, we should move on up. We have had a shortage (and subpar) facilities for some of our science programs for a long time now.
$150 million will build a hell of a facility.

Academic smack. LOL. You get past the top schools, and it doesn't make a damn. They all are good schools. It also depends on the discipline.

Our Forensic Science program only admits around 35 students per year.
That's more than the amount of people who show up for an NIU game.

Here's the deal with the USA article.....OK, we (the B12 current members) got the academics covered by getting this article out, now who plays the best football & how many TV sets can they bring? Oh and how much discount will they take to put more $$$ in our pockets?
That's the short & sweet of the selection process.

Its why I have a feeling LaTech might end up in the league rather than S Miss. One is ranked in USNWR and one is not. Every AAC school other than Memphis is a ranked USMWP school. If Memphis leaves, selecting LaTech rather than S Miss would mean EVERY SINGLE AAC school would be a ranked USNWP school.
University presidents love being able to say things like that. It would also add another layer of separation between the AAC and the other G5's. No other G5 can say everyone of their schools is a USMWP top 200 school. It would be the G5 equivalent of the B1G's AAU status. That AAU thing has literally become the Big10's identity at this point (even though Nebraska is no longer AAU---they were AAU when they joined).
Will be interesting because they are not a national research university (Carnegie R3). This is where pimp and spin will come in as schools will provide the rankings that make them look best.
