RE: Any AAC team expected to go Indy if they don't get an invite?

1) AAC TV and CFP money is for football. VCU wont see any of that.
2) Aresco has soundly dismissed the idea of non FB schools.
3) VCU in the multibid conference of the A10 with its rivals Richmond, George Washington, Mason is exactly where they want to be.
AAC made zero sense before UM, UC and UH left and it woud make less than zero now.
Wichita State is obviously the first invite.
VCU can be the second, third, or fourth.. It wont matter. I'd probably mark UMass for #2. Let the poaching begin. If they want to stay in a depleted conference, let them.
OTOH, if they want to play UConn/Memphis, Temple, Wichita State, SMU, Tulsa, UMass, etc, it would be better than what they'd have.

There is Wichita State and UMass/ODU have some pretty good basketball.
That pretty much delivers good basketball schools to the AAC which have FB.
I dont see mutual interest with non-FB A10 schools. A10 is on higher ground in basketball. Only a Wichita or ODU who are stuck in dying conference see the priority to move.

It's not on a higher ground if Wichita State and UMass enter the AAC. There are simply more traditional brands in the AAC even with a loss of Cincinnati and 1 of Mem/Conn.
Just pick them off one by one. When you have coaches like Ollie/Tubby, Marshall, etc, I like the AAC's chances.

Exactly. But that's why I have been telling people we should have made these invites 2 or 3 years ago. Our conference with its current members--plus Wichita (and perhaps UMass Olympic sports) would have been a no brainer for VCU to join.

That and when we were independent, the teams in the Metro conference and those who formed the original Big East were also independent. Those teams plus 2-3 from the SEC and 1 SWC private was our regular football schedule.

Gets pretty hard to get vcu on board now. These hopes schools should have been in the original plan.
