WKU was 12-2 last year and the Champs of CUSA going undefeated in conference play. Gets the AAC back into the Ohio Valley region.

Marshall was 10-3 last year and could be a good fit though playing against an increased level of competition might be too much for the small school.

Southern Miss 9-5 last year finishing first in CUSA West division. They have a lot of history with most of the conference but don't bring much value to the TV deal and basketball would only get worse.

Rice was 5-7 last year. Yes, they have great academics but a team that struggles in CUSA should not be high on the list. They're basketball was only slightly better than Southern Miss but thats not saying much. They would bring no value to the TV contract.

Toledo was 10-2 last year and had a winning season in basketball. In between the Detroit and Cleveland markets and gets you back into Ohio and the mid-west.

Ohio went 8-5 last season and had a good year in basketball going 23-12. They sit in south east Ohio and have a good sized student body. A big student body and competent athletics is something the conference should be looking for.

NIU went 8-6 last year and continue to rack up bowl appearances and MAC division titles. A good season in BBall like Ohio and a good TV market should make them very attractive to the TV partners.

Buffalo went 5-7 last year and had a similar basketball season to NIU and Ohio and continue to build off the success Hurly had up there. They sit in a decent market and could be a eastern option to keep UConn company if they are left behind.

UMass went 3-9 last season and didn't have a good season in basketball but played in a much tougher conference than the rest on this list above. They are a big state school in the North east and would help make a nice NE trio along with UConn and Temple.

Now my personal opinion is that a all sports minus fb school should be added to off balance Navy FB. I think VCU which is a power in the strong A-10 would really really help bolster the basketball side of the conference if you should lose both Memphis and Cincy. Their fan base travels well and they play a tough brand of basketball. Also keeps you with a team in the VA/DC/MD area all year long.

Why does a Rutgers fan care who gets in the AAC?

I asked myself the same question.

Why does anyone? Conference realignment is a game everybody gets to play.

Good Point, and it's definitely interesting.
