I sure hope we will be joining you guys again. CUSA is currently as terrible of a conference as there has ever been. If you’d have asked me 10 years ago to make up the worst conference that I possibly could have, it would not have been anywhere near as bad as what CUSA is now. I’m going to generally stop talking CUSA, before I get sick.
On to the AAC. Again, it would be great to have home/homes again with the likes of Memphis, ECU, SMU, Houston (though they are destined for the Big 12 imo). Heck, it would even be nice to play Tulame and Tulsa compared to our current conference mates. I really don’t like UCF or USF very much, but I would take great pride in defeating those schools again. Honestly, when they joined CUSA, it was an embarrassment. Everyone felt the same about them them, as people do now about their Florida counterparts, the Ocean and Airport (FAU & FIU), UTSA, Old Dominion, Charlotte, North Texas, West Kentucky and whoever else is in CUSA (minus Marshall and Rice). Now that I think about USF and UCF, they are still an embarrassment, but I’d look forward to kicking them around the football field again. Tulsa, I like you Tulsa, but we all felt (and feel), almost the same about you.
Speaking of kicking teams around the football field, I’d be thrilled to have the chance to kick the rest of the AAC around the football field again. I say “again”, bc each of you remember (or should), how Southern Miss dominated your football programs for years and years. Each of you know in your heart, that if joining the Big 12 was solely based on picking the best and historically most prolific program, that Southern Miss would be the team to add over every single AAC team. Lets take a look at some history that’s more current than ancient.
USM vs. Memphis - 32-17-1
USM vs. Tulame - 23-7
USM vs. ECU - 38-26-12
USM vs. Houston - 13-9-4
USM vs. SMU - 3-1
USM vs. USF - 3-1
USM vs. UCF - 6-2
USM vs. Navy - 1-0
USM vs. Louisville - 15-10-1 (just bc)
Temple and UCON, lets just be honest here and speak frankly…..your football is a joke. But hey, you have a great rep in basketball, so kudos to that and would like to add you to the above list as well.
Cincy, I don’t like you. Your teams have always been dirty and no one cares about Cincy in football. In basketball, you could never make it out of the first round for some reason, and I always pulled for yall back in the day. I don’t like Cincy.
I like ECU, nothing bad to say about you guys.
Memphis, its time for us to put you back in your place. I know you’re scared of USM, but that’s ok, its normal. Nevertheless, it would still be great to play you guys again. The same can be said for Houston (if you weren’t leaving) and SMU. USF, UCF….I want to curb stomp your weak little programs again! I sure hope we get that opportunity!
Tulane…..lol.
In all seriousness, I really would be ecstatic to join all you guys again in a conference. Hope it happens. Though everything I said above is the truth. :)
Ok, I’ll play along. For the last 5 seasons, 2011-15
USM 25-39 .390 winning %
2 seasons with a winning record
1 P5 win
Temple 31-31 .500 winning %
2 seasons with a winning record
3 P5 wins
Since we are being honest, USM is not nearly as good in football as their fans think they are.
One bad hire messed things up for 3 years. And it was extreme misery for 2 of those years. However, last year was a decent bounce back with 9 wins and a similar season is expected this year. Teams that have a history of winning will almost always find a way to win again when they go through a rough patch.
Congrats on a good season last year. Your RB was a special talent.
