ECU has been at this a very long time. Our fans have become accustomed to getting 1/1, 2/2, etc type deals with the likes of WVU, Virginia Tech, BYU, NC State, and UNC. (UNC in the past decade) Hell, we have a deal with Virginia Tech every season (except one) through like 2024 or something crazy like that. We alternate Greenville, Blacksburg, etc.

When we schedule teams not in the P5, we typically get a favorable deal, but it's usually a "one and done" game in Greenville. Now, with the exception of Marshall (who ECU has a LONNNNNNNG history with) we have continued that trend.

The only time we have gotten hosed (in post 2000 era) has been our deal with South Carolina, but they are in the SEC. They front loaded games in Columbia and Charlotte, with 1 or 2 games in Greenville towards the end. Also we had a head-scratcher of a 1 and done game down at Florida... which we lost in the final seconds...ugh.

Point is - while App & ECU might not be tremendously far apart on the field, ECU has a track record of getting advantageous scheduling deals done, and the national perception of the AAC is higher than that of the Sun Belt. Not all G5's are created equal. We're all hogs at the same troth, but we've got a better spot at the troth.

It's not you guys, its the rest of us

What most of us are saying is that App should have turned the series down the minute it included unequal home games.

Not all G5 are created equal, but that doesn't mean we have to treat you as anything other than equals when it comes to scheduling. ULM would have been the only other SBC who would have even considered a similar deal. Most of us would have laughed at you.

And the 90's for Arkansas State have been mentioned a few times on here. If App is considered the home team in Charlotte, it amounts to another home game due to the demographics of the attendance at App games.

So what you're seeing isn't the foregoing of a home game but the desire to keep the series at an even number with a game in a territory which ultimately will benefit Appalachian more than an extra home game would. Furthermore, if there is another series announced while this series is going on, who is to say it won't include a true 2-2?

And you tried to compare App and ULM....

"As a neutral site, Charlotte makes the most sense. While not perfectly in-between the two schools, it's the only stadium in North and South Carolina with over 30,000 seats not belonging to an ACC or SEC school. Bank of America Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers, seats 74,445 people and was just upgraded with new scoreboards, amenities and easier wi-fi in effort to bid on a Super Bowl.

The stadium is roughly 100 miles from App State and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area has more App State alums than another other city."

I'm pretty confident App could bring at least 30k to a game in Bank of America Stadium. Between students heading down the hill and alumni in Asheville, Charlotte, Winston-Salem, ect, I don't think it would be that crazy to believe. Plus, games like this are a big deal for us.

Heck, of the 22,000 in attendance in Montgomery, I'd wager 85% were App fans. We travel pretty darn well for a smaller public school.

That's why i'm not understanding the comparisons other schools are making to this particular situation. It isn't often a G5 could have a neutral site game and expect MORE fans to show up. Also, it isn't like any other school in the Sun Belt has all but one of the G5 conferences represented. So having this game, being able to infringe on C-USA land and playing in the first or second largest market in NC with two of the states most successful programs during the last decade is a big deal.
