A billion dollar industry yet the athletes can't take a pic with a fan? Insane. I guess only the institutions can benefit.

Probably wouldn't have been a violation if he'd taken it with the "member of the management team."
It was a benefit. Seems clear. Not a big violation but we've seen similar things get out of hand. Some big wig shows attention, next thing a kid if feeling obligated.. We not long ago had problems with this, some guy wanting influence showed a few players some benefits...
I think it's a good rule and the violation level appropriate.

Eventually the P5 schools will leave the NCAA and it will have to live with a meager budget, while punishing MAC schools and inventing national tournaments that no one will watch.

Then, if there is a great player in the MAC that wins an ESPY, they could go up on stage and make a political statement about equality in coverage of the sport. Maybe get some green shirts and make a statement like "MAC Players Matter". We would not be saying P5 players don't matter, but that MAC players are important as well.

Nah, they'd say "See, I belonged in a P5 conference because even though I played in this dinky-dink conference I showed everyone how good I was".
